To all which offices they have Been Respectively Sworn Then the Town Proceeded upon the other Business Con- tained in the Warrant & voted as follows


1 That Mess" Ebenezer Waldron Samuel Gott & Jona Porter be a Comtee to make Enquiry Concerning an apple Tree or two Supposed to be the Towns Property that was Lately Taken from or near the Burying Place and make Report to the Town


2 Voted that the Comtee Lately Chosen to Examine the Pew Comtees accounts be further Impowered to Proceed in that affair agreeable to a Late vote of the Town -


Voted that the Selectmen be Impowered to Sell all 3 the Towns Land Adjoyning to their House where Pat- rick Burn now Lives Excepting So much as they may think Necessary to accomodate the House with a yard and Garden


Lastly Voted to Confirm the Late act of the Selectmen in their Laying out a Private way for mr John Gott from his Land to the highway at the West End of the Town March 9 1752 At a meeting of the Selectmen of Wen- ham Then agreed with Benja Bragg to Keep School in the Town where they Shall appoint the Space of Six months from the 16th Instant in order to Teach Children to Read and write for which Service he is to have the Sum of one Pound twelve Shillings Lawfull money Per month out of the Town Treasury


March 16 1752 At a meeting of the Selectmen of Wen- ham Then agreed with Samuel Tarbox to Perform the Service of a Saxton for the Ensuing year for which he is to Receive two Pounds Lawfull money at which time the said Tarbox was appointed Pound Keeper for the year

May 18 1752 At a meeting of the Inhabitants of the Town of Wenham Regularly warned & Conven'd in order to chuse a Representative after Several Trials were made and no Choisse Could be obtained the town Desisted Sup- posing they were not obliged by Law to Send a Deputy to the Great & General Court - and at said meeting Capt Thº Tarbox being Chosen moderator it was voted that the Swine might go at Large the year Ensuing if yoked and wringed according to Law


June 29 1752 At a Town meeting of the Inhabitants of Wenham Regularly warned and Conven'd m" Eben" Waldron Being Chosen moderator the following votes were then Past namely


1 Voted to fence the Burying Place


2 Voted to fence Said Burying Place with a Stone wall


3 Voted that mess" Sam" Rogers Sam" Tarbox Jun" and John Friend be a Comtee to Divide the Fence about the Burying Place with the adjacent Proprietors and Proportion Every mans Part thereof agreeable to their Taxes -


We the Subscribers being a Comtee Chosen by the Town of Wenham to affix and Settle the Boundaries of our Burying Place with the adjacent Proprietors having met with Said Proprietors for that Purpose on this first Day of June 1752 Proceeded to do it in the following man- ner viz


Begining at the Seccond Post to the Northward of Capt Dodges wall by the Countrey Road from thence Runing Easterly about nine Poles to a Stake from thence North- erly a Streight Line to a Stake and Stones Standing Be- tween the Burying Place and John Kimballs Land from thence to the North East Corner of the Burying Place to a Stake and Stones from thence Northwesterly as the Post holes of the Late fence about the Said Burying Place now appear to the Countrey Road -

Oct™ 2 1752 At a meeting of the Inhabitants of the Town of Wenham Regularly Warned and Convened Dea Jona Kimball Being Chosen moderator it was voted as follows namely


1 Voted that the Sum of two Hundred Pounds Lawfull money be Leveyed on the Inhabitants of the Town in or- der to Defray the necessary Charges thereof the Ensuing year


2 Voted that the Late Comtee who were Chosen to Pro- portion the fence about the Burying Place be Impowered to have it Built four foot and an half high from the Sur- face of the Earth

2 Voted that m' Richard Dodge be the Towns agent to bring a Suit in Law against the Late Pew Comtee in or- der to Recover the money that appears to be in their hands on account of the Pews


3 Voted that the Selectmen be Impowered to make what allowance they Shall Proper to Lieut William Dodge for those Stones which he Procured for Steps at the meeting- house Doors


4 Voted that the Selectmen be Impowered to make Sale of a Small Strip of Land Laying in the High-way from the Bridge at the East End of the Town against m' Jacob Dodges Land as far as his Barn to the said Dodge Pro- vided the highway be not Discommoded thereby


March 12 1753 At a meeting of the Selectmen of Wen- ham then agreed with mr Benja Bragg to Keep a School in the middle Part of the Town four months in order to teach Children and youth to Read write & cypher for which Service he is to have one Pound twelve Shillings Per month of the town and also then agreed with Samuel Tarbox to Perform the Service of a Saxton the year En-

Also att the Same meeting of the Selectmen they Purchased A Will fix'd Firelock for £1-1-4: & Delivered it to Captn John Dodge to Keep as Part of the Towns Stock

We the Subscribers Being Chosen A Committee By the Town of Wenham & Impowrd To Divide fence about our burying Place with the Adjacent Proprietors having met for that Purpose on this 24th Day of Oct" 1753 have Divided Said fence in the following manner (viz) Begin- ning with John Kimball, the Length of the Lines against Said Kimballs Land is Twenty five Pole & Six Inches said Kimball is To have Twelve Pole Eight feet six Inches of the Southerly Part of ye fence on the Easterly Side of said burying place for his part of fence.


And Four feet & half of the said Easterly Side of ye burying Place at the Northerly End of Sª Line & the whole Line on the Northerly Side of Said Burying Place is the Towns Part of fence against the sd Kimballs Land The Length of the Lines against Cap'n John Dodges Land is thirteen Pole fourteen feet & half on those Lines the Town is to have for their part on the Southerly Side of Sd Burying Place Begining at the Country Road Ex-

Novbr 6.1753: At A Legal Town meeting held by adjournment the following votes were Passed (viz) (Dea" Jonathan Kimball being moderator)


First It was Put to vote Whether or no the Town will have any better fence against the Country Road than against the adjacent Proprietors & it past in the Negative 2 Voted that the Stone wall about our burying Place be built four feet and Six Inches In height from the Sur- face of the Earth


3 Voted that there be a Trench Dug Six Inches from the Surface of the Earth Downwards to Lay the founda- tion of the said wall upon -


4 Voted that the Comtee Chosen To Proportion the fence about the burying Place shall have Power To Place the fence against the Road where it now Standeth or Nigher the Country Road as they think Proper


5 Voted the Price of one Rod of ye said wall Be thir- teen shillings


6 Voted that the fence about the burying Place be built & finished by ye first Day of May Next & that after the fence is Proportioned by the Comtee If any Person shall make up one Pole of fence as before
