At a meeting of the Selectmen May the 23ª 1770: Then agreed with Mr James Friend Jun" for him sd Friend, to improve the Burying Place the Ensuing year by Pa- tureing Sheep therein & no Other Creature: And in Con- sideration thereof he Sd Friend is to Pay the Town, five shillings and four pence at the Experation of sd Term.

At a Town Meeting of the Inhabitants of Wenham duly warn'd & regularly Assembled on the 25th day of Sep- tember Anno Domini 1770:

Voted That the Sum of One hundred & Twenty pounds be Granted, Assessed, Collected and Paid into the Treas- urey for defraying the Legal Necessary Charges of the Town the year Currant.


Voted that D' William Fairfield, Ens' John Friend and M' Nathanael Kimball Jun" be A Committee to sell yee vacant Ground in the Gallery of our meeting-house, and make report with all Convenient Speed.


Voted that Deacon Samuel Tarbox, Ens' Thomas Brown, and Ens' John Friend be a Committee to Scrutanize into the boundaries between the Nail Maple on Ipswich line at yee Springs and Topsfield Corner at yee River. - Then Mr moderator Declared this meeting to be dissolved and it was dissolved accordingly .-

Then Agreed with the wid' Eunice Porter to keep the wid' Elisabeth Severy, for the Space of one year from the Date hereof for the Sum of three Pounds during which term, ye Sd Widow Porter is to find the Said Wid' Severy Suffi- cient meat drink Washing & Lodging & to make her Cloaths as Good at yee years end as they were when they were Prized to M' Caleb Kimball at her first Receiving the Sd wid Severy and the Sd Selectmen for themselves, & Successors, Engage to pay the sd Wid' Porter, the sd three Pounds, and allow her what Labour yee Sd Severy can do during sd Term: and in Case of Sickness defray the Charge of Doctors & nursing which may Arise by means of the Sd Elizabeth. At a meeting of the Selectmen of Wenham April 1st 1771 This Agreement made by & between Sd Selectmen on the one part and Josiah Farifield Esq" on the other part; Witneseth :

At a Town meeting of the Inhabitants of Wenham duly warned and Regularly Assembled on the 24 day of May 1771 - for Electing a Representative and other Business as by Warrant on file may more fully appear -


The Question was put wheather the Town would make Choise of a Repre Sentative, and it pase:d in the Nega- tive -


Voted - that Nath11 Brown Esqr be moderator to finish the remaining business -


Voted - that Seventy pounds be Raised to Repair the High way the Current Year


Voted - that Nath11 Brown Esq" Dea" Sam11 Tarbox & Daniel Killam Jr be a Comttee to Enlarge the Old Desk that the Town's Books are kept in or Dispose of it & purchase aLarger one as they Shall think proper


Voted that Ens. John Friend Dr Tyler Porter and Capt Jacob Dodge be a Comttee to view mr Killams Wall and determain what Shall be done Respecting is Request - Voted - that Dea" Sam11 Tarbox Doct" William Fair- field & Doctr Tyler Porter be a Comttee to make Sail of the Pew lately built for the Singers; and provide aplace for them in the East End of the front Gallary as they Shall think proper


Voted that Doctor Waters Psalms & Hyms be introduced into the Congregation tobe Sung on the Lords day &c - Voted - that the Selectmen be a Comttee to Seperate the List of Jurers and it was done accordingly and accepted by the town -


then the Moderator Declar :d the meeting to be Disolv :d- and it was disolved accordingly -

off apart of the front Gallery for the Sd Singers as we shall think proper, have accordingly the Sixth day of June 1771 - made Sail of Sª Pew as follows viz: that half or Part of Sª Pew adjourning the great Alley to Benjm Friend for £7-13-4 the other half or Part to John Friend for £3-7-4 likewise have Set of about one third of the front Gallery (by nailing a strip across the Seet) for the Use of the Singers During Towns pleasure Which is - Humbly Submitted by us
