This Agreement made by and Between the Selectmen on the one part, and Nath11 Bragg of Sd Wenham on the other part -


Witneseth that the Sd Nath11 Bragg is to take the wid Sarah Batcheller (one of the poor of this town) into his Family and provide for her Sufficient meat, Drink, wash- ing and Lodging during the Term of one year from the Date hereof and at the Expiration of Sd Term to make good her Cloathing Beding &c as they were when Sd Bragg Recd them; and the Sd Selectmen on their part and for their Succesors doth Engage to pay unto the Sd

At a Meeting of the Selectmen of Wenham Ochr 4th 1771- This agreement made by and Between the Selectmen on the one part and William Cleave of sd Wenham on the other part Witneseth, that the Sd Cleaves is to take the Widw Sarah Knowlton (who is become one of the poor of this Town) into his family and her provide for with Suf- ficient meat Drink washing & Lodging during the Term of one year from the date hereof and to make good her bed, Cloathing &ec as they were when Sd Cleaves Rec'd them. and the Selectmen for themselves & successors prom- ises and engages to pay to the sd W™ Cleaves Five pounds Six Shillings & Eight pence at the Expiration of Sd Term together with all the Labor she is able to perform and in Case of sickness to pay Doctrs Nursing & All Extraordi- nary Charges In Confirmation of which we have Set our hands the day above mentioned.

We The Subscribers Being a Committee appointed to Take under Consideration The Boston Letters from the Committee of Corespondence of Sª Town wherin are In- serted Certain Greiviances Having Maturely Considered The Same are of Opinion That The Right of the Colonist of this in Particular are Infring'd upon in many In- stances & Therefore is a Great Greiviance To all his Majestys Loyal Subjects and has a Direct Tendency To the Destruction of our Happy Constitution.


We Shall not Desend into Particulars, they being So often Enumerated Before, But only mention Some of the most obvious (Viz) The Giving up our Chief fortress into The Hands of his Majestys Troops. over whom our Governour Saith he has no Power or Command & 2ndly The Appointing Sallaries To our Chief Justices at Home and That we are Denied The Priviledge of Choosing an Agent at Home and Thereby Rendred unable To Petition his majesty but by way of the Governour who Perhaps is the Very man we want to Petition Against we are farr from Being Easy under The Present administration of


Government and Scituation of our Civil Rights & Privi- ledges and ardently wish they may be Redresed Speedily Having no Representative To Give Instrtuctions Too We Shall always be ready To join with the Town of Boston & others in all Constitutional methods To Preserve our Civil & Religious Priviledges Inviolate, and may That Almighty Being who Governs all Things in Infinite Mercy Preside in all Our Councils: & Direct To Such Mesures as he Himself Shall Approve off, and may we Ever be a People favoured of Heaven and may this Be- come Emmanuels Land.

Then Agreed with Miriam Knowlton To Keep the widow Sarah Knowlton One of the Poor of this Town for the Space of one year from the Date hereof for the Sum of five Pounds Two Shillings & Eight Pence & the sd widw Miriam Knowlton is to find the Sd Widw Sarah Knowl- ton Sufficient meat Drink & Lodging & Washing, The Town to be at the Charge of a Docter and of nursing, in Case of Sickness; & the Sª Wid" Miriam to make The Sª Wid" Sarah Cloathing good as they were when she first Took her at the End of the year.

Then Examined & Received the Town Stock of ammuni- tion and we found one Barril of Powder Containing Be- tween 40 & 50 Lb & 2C 1 Quarter Lb of Bullets & be- tween 3 & 4 hundred flints.
