the Honourable Committee of both Houses of Assembly, appointed to view a Bridge over Water's River in Dan- verse, at the Time when they Shall Attend that Service, and Lay before them the following Reasons voted in this meeting why we Humbly Apprehend this Town Ought not to be at Any Part of the Charge of Supporting the Bridge Afores'd. Reason first the County Roads in Wen- ham, are, and have ben for Many years Past, more charge- able than the Highways in Danverse, in Proportion to the bigness of Each of Sd Towns & more Especially with Respect to A Long Causey (known by the Name of Wen- ham Causey) which is Eighty four Poles in length, and built upon a very Boggy meddow, in which by Reason of its Continual Sinking; we are at Constant Charge to keep it in Repair. And the Same hath lately ben made a County Road, viz much used by Travellers and for cart- ing wood, & Shiptimber to the Sea Port Towns. Reason Second we apprehend the Income of the Mills and ad- vantage of Business and Trade Ausing Chiefly by Means of Sd Bridge, to the Town of Danverse is Such an advan- tage as Over Ballances all the Charge of Sd Bridge and its Maintainance Reason third, the way over Sd Bridge, is the morst Short and direct to Salem and Marblehead (two Principal Sea Ports in this County) for a Consid- erable Part of Sd County and therefore of Publick Util- ity. We therefore Pray the Same may be Continued free of Charge to the Town of Wenham for the Reasons above mentioned.

3ly It was Put to vote whether the Petition of Timothy Patch Praying an Abatement of his Taxes for the year 1766 the Prayer thereof Should be Granted, and it Pass'd in the Negative Then M' Moderator Declared Sd meeting to be Dissolved and it was Dissolved Accordingly.
