By order of the Board, Robert Towers, Commis'y, was directed to deliver to Colo. Homes, for the Use of an Artillery Comp'y of New Jersey, two hund'd pounds of Lead, receiving six pence per pound for the same.
Resolved, That Doct'r Dunlap be impowered and required to purchase all such Drugs, Medecines, Chirurgical Instruments, and Necessaries, for the use of the Hospital under his care, as shall be requisite for that service, upon the best terms he is able, & send in the accounts to this Board for Payment.

Upon application to Congress by this Board for the Loan of sum of Money for the service of this Board,
The following order was sent to this Committee by Rob't Mor- ris, Esq'r, Vizt :
"In Congress, June 28, 1776.
" Resolved, 'That the Treasurers be impowered to advance to the Committee of Safety of Pennsylvania, a sum not exceeding one hundred thousand Dollars, the Colony of Pennsylvania to be ac- countable.

" Resolved, That the above order of Congress for one hundred thousand Dollars, be put into the hands of John Nixon, Esq'r, and others, the Committee of Accounts of this Board.
Resolved, That it be recommended to the Committee of Inspec- tion for the County of Bucks, immediately to appoint some fit & trusty Person to cause all the Fire Arms collected from the Asso- ciators in that County, to be repaired and made fit for service with' all possible Dispatch, and the Accounts of such Repair, certified by such person, & countersign'd by the Chairman of the said Com- mittee, with the reasonable Charge of such Person so employed,' shall be paid by this Board.
Robert Towers, Commissary, was directed to furnish Colo. Miles with samples of Powder, that he may make Choice of that that will best suit the Rifles, and five hundred Flints.
Resolved, 'That Doct'r John Davis, of the 1st Rifle Battalion in the service of this Province, be authorized to purchase a Case of Surgeons Pocket Instruments.
Ordered, That such Prisoners from North Carolina as choose, may be permitted to write to their friends there, such letters to be inspected by this Committee ; And the Gaoler is to take care that all the paper deliver'd into the prisoners, be used in such letters or Returned him.
The Memorial of Ludwick Kargher, Agent Victualler for the three Battalions in the pay of this Province, being read & Con- sidered, this Committee recommended him to the Delegates of this Province in Congress, to apply to the hon'ble Congress for Redress.

Resolved, That Mr. Towers be directed to deliver to General Roberdeau's Order all the Provincial Arms in his possession, That a just distribution be made of them amongst the four Musket Bat- talions of Associators in this City.
By order of the Board, an order was drawn on Jno. Nixon, Esq'r, and others, the Committee of Accounts, in favour of George Spang- ler, for Ten pounds, for defraying the Expences of Capt. Campbel's Men, discharged from Confinement and ordered to York Town, which is directed to be Charged to his account.

By order of the Board, an order was drawn on Jno. Nixon, & others, the Committee of Accounts, in favour of Messrs. R't Smith, Wm. Ball, & B. Harbeson, for twenty-five pounds, for purchasing Awnings for making Tents.
Captain Loxley & Mr. Daniel King are hereby order'd to take im- mediate possession of Morgan Bustead's Air Furnace, for the Public ase, and this Committee will be Answerable to the said Bustead.
Resolved, That Mr. Rob't Smith, Sail Maker, be requested to at- tend Messrs. Smith, Ball, & Harbeson, to inspect and Value such Awnings as they may show him, for which they are to pay the several owners, agreeable to the valuation, & which he is desired to make up with all possible speed into Tents.
By order of the Board, an order was drawn on Jno. Nixon, Esq'r, & others, the Committee of Accounts, for two hundred & Fifty pounds, in favour of Mr. Abraham Mason, for the purchase of Can- vass for Tents.
Resolved, That Mr. Kemble & Mr. John Young, Jun'r, be de- sired immediately to deliver Robert Towers, Commissary, such Fire Arms as are in their possession ; and such as are fit for use, or may Conveniently be made so, be Valued by him, and this Committee will pay for them.
The Board, understanding that Capt. Loxley & Mr. King are about to Erect a Boring Mill near the City, it is Recommended to them to Compleat the Work without loss of time, as it may be im- mediately employed, greatly to the public service.
Resolved, That Mr. Owen Biddle procure for the use of this Province double the Quantity of entrenching Tools already provided.

This Committee some time past Freighted & hired the Brig't Nancy, Capt. Montgomery, on a Voyage for procuring arms & am- munition, on Account of this Province, and having engaged to se- cure the Value of the said Vessel to the owners in case of loss : And . Whereas, the said Brigt. Nancy, on her Return from St. Thomas with Powder and other goods, was Run on shore near Cape May and lost ; In Consequence thereof, the owners of said Vessel exhibi- ted an Account against this Committee for the Value of said Brig't and other matters therein mention'd; Therefore,

Resolved, That Robort Morris, Thomas Wharton, Jun'r, & Robert Whyte, Esq'r, the Committee for Importing Powder, Arms, &ca, be authorized to settle the above mention'd account, and make Report to this Board.
Resolved, That Messrs. George Gray, James Biddle, Geo. Clymer, & Owen Biddle, be a Committee to draw up a plan for the support of the Families of the poor Associators that are gone and are now going upon the president Expedition into the Jerseys, and make Report of their proceedings to-morrow.
The Powder Committee Report that they have examined the ac- . counts exhibited by Joseph Shallcross, & Co., respecting the loss of the Brig't Nancy, amounting to £1457 10, and find it reason- able and just.
In Consequence thereof, An order was drawn on Jno. Nixon, Esq'r, and others, the Committee of Accounts, in favour of said Joseph Shallcross & Co., for the said sum of £1457 10.

Resolved, That Mr. James Lang, at present an Ensign in the Musquet Battalion, be and he is hereby appointed a Lieutenant in said Battalion, in the Room of Joseph MeClellan, promoted.
This Board being informed that Mr. Jno. Baker, of Norrington, has a number of Provincial Fire arms in his possession, By order of the Board, he was directed to deliver them to Colo. Hill, taking a Receipt for the same.
Ordered, That the Commissary inquire into the value of the Musket lost by Jasper Carpenter in the service, and supply him with one of equal Value out of the publick store.

Nixon, Esq'r, and others, the Committee of Accounts, in favour of Benja- min Weatherby for Fifty pounds, being for the payment of a House purchased of him, on the Land purchased for acc't of Congress, for erecting Fortifications at Billingsport, which sum is directed to be Charged to account of Congress.

Capt. Sterling, with the Prisoners from Burlington, be allowed Horses, at the Expence of the Continent.
By order of the Board, Reuben Haines was directed to Furnish Jacob Miers with ten shilling Beer as he may want it.
In pursuance of a Requisition from Congress to this Committee, to order all the British Officers Prisoners in this City, immediately to the respective places of their Destination.
Resolved, That the said Officers be required to leave this City within twenty-four Hours, and repair straightways to the places where they are ordered to reside, and that a Copy of this Resolve be served on each of them, to the end it may be strictly complied with.
WHEREAS, the Assembly of this Province did in a former Session Resolve, That if any Associator called into Actual service shall leave a family not of Ability to maintain themselves in his Absence, the Overseers of the poor, with the concurrence of one Justice of ' the Peace of the City or County where such Associator did reside, shall' immediately make Provision by way of Pension, for the maintenance of such Family ; and a true and proper account being kept thereof, shall be returned to the Assembly, in order that the same may be made a Provincial Expence, and paid accordingly. And as it is the opinion of this Committee, That the Funds of the said Overseers will prove greatly insufficient, whenever any consider- able number of Associators shall be drawn into Actual service, & that the Administering to the wants of such Families, by the Hands of the Overseers, will not be satisfactory to the Associators, or be likely to Answer the good ends proposed,
Therefore, Resolved, That this Committee will, out of the Funds of which they have the Disposition, make such provision as shall be thought necessary to answer the said Purposes, & that it be re- commended to the Committees of Inspection and Observation of the City of Philadelphia, and the several Counties in the Province to nominate and appoint a proper Number of Judicious Persons resid- ing in the said City and Counties respectively, to distribute to such distressed Families the allowance they shall judge reasonable.
And that the said Committees be empowered to draw, as they shall see occasion, on this Board, for the Necessary sums of Money, to be by them lodged in the Hands of the Persons so nominated and appointed, to be applied as is above directed, the said Com- mittees to Return Accounts to this Board of the expenditure of the same.
Resolved, That the above be published in the different Newspa- pers of this City.

By order of the Board, an order was drawn on John Nixon, Esq'r, and others, the Committee of Accounts in favour of John Morton for £310, being the balance of the Brig't Dolphin's Freight, a Bill having been drawn for said sum by Stephen Ceronia, on this Committee in favour of said Morton, which Bill has not yet appeared, & this is in full discharge of it.
By-order of the Board, an order was drawn on Jno. Nixon, Esq'r, & others, the Committee of Acco't, in favour of Rob't Ritchie, for £48 5 6, for an Old Scow for a Hulk, an Anchor, Cabouse, &c.

In Consequence of the following Resolve of Congress, Mr. M'Donald was discharged from his Confinement, and his parole taken :

" Resolved, That Mr. Thomas Penrose & Mr. Arthur Donaldson be requested, and they are hereby Authorized to fix the two Piers at their proper stations in the line of the upper Chevaux de Frize, near Fort Island, and also to fasten the Boom thereto."

The Committee taking into Consideration the extraordinary trouble of Capt. Whyte in attending and directing the Building & sinking Chevaux de Frize, and other publick services out of doors, are of Opinion he is entitled to Receive One hundred & fifty pounds for such services, And an order is drawn in his favour on Jno. The Hon'ble Continental Congress having desired this Board to settle an Allowance for the Maintenance of Mrs. Connolly, and the Board taking the same into Consideration, do

By order of the Board, An order was drawn on Jno. Nixon, Esq'r, and others, the Committee of Accounts, in favour of William McHenry, for twenty-four pounds, being the amount of Eight Mus- kets purchased by Colo. Tho. M'Kean, for the use of the Associa- tors of his Battalion.
By order of the Board, an order was drawn on John Nixon, Esq'r, and others, the Committee of Accounts, in favour of Mr. Allen McDonald, for £7 10, being so much allowed for taking him & his son to Reading, which is directed to be charged to account of Congress, they being two of the North Carolina Prisoners released from Confinement by order of Congress.

COUNCIL OF SAFETY.
By order of the Board, an order was drawn on Michael Hillegas, Esq'r, in favour of Colo. Samuel Atlee, for the use of the Battalion under his Command, for six hundred pounds.
The Families who have leaden Window or Clock Weights, are earnestly requested to give them up .immediately to the Persons appointed to Collect them. Such Families may be assured that they will be supplied as soon as possible with Weights of Iron, and it is hoped the trifling Inconvenience of being for a few days with- out them, will not be put in Competition with the Danger that may Arise to this Country from the want of a sufficient Quantity of Lead for our Defence.
