In response to the foregoing warrant, the voters of Brimfield to a considerable number , assembled at Down Stall. The meeting was called to order by the Town Clerk, at 7:30. The warrant was read by the Werk and article I was taken up. There being but one nomination for moderator, the Clerk by vole of the meeting deposited one ballot for Munroe 9. Tarbell for moderator.

In response to the foregoing warrant the voters of Brimfield assembled in Fortu Stall on Monday, Aug. 10,1925.


The meeting was called to order by the Town Check at 8 P.M., the utarrant read and article I acted on. The ballot for moderator was as follows: - Total number ballots cast 22 of which M.G. Tarbell received 13, Robert J. Streeter 7, Clara C. Fisk 2. Mr. Tarbell was declared Elected and was duly Aworn by the town Clerk.


Art. 2. On motion of P.A. Parker, it was voted to rescind previous vote on this subject


Art 3. A contract with the Trustees of the Hitchcock Free Academy was read by Dr. F. A. Charles and discussed at some length. An amendment to a motion to accept same , offered by Mr. Madison , that a sum not to Exceed $350.00 be deducted from the Instruction Fund for Expenses, was lost. A motion to accept the contract as read was carried and it was so voled.


Art 4.


Voted , to accept the gift of a right of way and the land of such right of way through the triangular piece of land in East Brunfield of Frederic A. Charles, bounded by the old highway from wales to Sturbridge and from Brumfield to Edit Brumfield and Holland and from East Brumfield to Sturbridge, on such terms and conditions as the Selectmen of Bringfield and the said Frederic A. Charles may agree upon . And if acceptable to the above parties , to then petition the County Commissioners for a re-location of said Ingleway that nout bounds the Easterly part of said triangular piece of land .


This concluded the business of the meeting, but on motion of Clarence B. Brown, after a short talk of the subject , it was voted that It was the sense of the

Resolved That the Selectmen be authorized to officially oppose the raise in Telephone rates as granted by The Public Utilities Commission.

Contract with Trustees of Hitchcock Free Academy.


Whereas the Inhabitants of Brimfield, a municipal corporation duly organized by law and located in the County of Stampden, Commonwealth of Mass., herewafter referred to as the Town, and the Trustees of the Hitchcock Free academy a corporation duly Established by law and located in Brunfield, in said County of Stampden, hereinafter referred to as the Trustees, Entered into an agreement under date of Aug. 19. 1914, by the terms of which said Town was to maintain the Hitchcock Free academy as a public high school ; and


Whereas said Town has since said date maintained said academy as a public high school under and accord. ing to the provisions of said agreement ; and


whereas it is now the mutual desire of the parties 1 hereto that the academy shall be continued to be maintained as a public high school by said Town ;


Now therefore the Town and the Trustees hereby Enter into the following agreement : 1. The Tristes hereby agree to place at the disposal of the School Committee of the town, the building library and Equipment of the Hitchcock Free academy for high school purposes, to keep the outer walls, roof and outside of said building in repair , and to pay to the said committee for said purposes the net income from

It is understood that the " net income from the Instruct ion Fund " shall be the remainder of the income of said Funds after defraying the annual Expense of the care of the centery lot of the late S. A. Hitchcock, with monument and hadstones thereon, and fence referred to in the second clause of the instrument creating the gift or donation from said 1. A. Ahitchcock dated Brumfield, DEC. 1. 1869, and the ifpense of building a new fence in the Event of the hap- blessing of the contingency set forth in said second clause, V and after paying thesefrom all proper and lawful EN- penses incidental to the management of said fund ( not including any compensation for the services of the trustees ( ) , and any takes that may be assessed against any of the investments of said fund.

The Town hereby agrees to maintain in said building with said Equipment and with said income and whatever additional sims it may be necessary for the Town to appropriate , a public high school under the General Laws of the Common- wealth , and to keep the glass of the windows and doors and all internal parts of said building , including plumbing , heating and ventilating apparatus and fixtures, in as good repair and condition as the same are at the present thine, subject to the supervision of the said Trustees and to keep said Equipment and library in a state of repair and re- placement satisfactory to the said Trustees. 3. Said high school is to be conducted according to law, under the order and superintendance of the author. ities of the Town. The Trustees shall have the sole manage- ment of said building and of all funds Entrusted to them. The authority and power of the Trustees, however, is to be lunited to the management of said buildings and funds , and to the supervision of repairs and replacements under the foregoing section. 4.0 This agreement may be terminated on the first day of July in any year upon notice by Either party thereto, said notice to be given, in writing , on or before the first day of March preceding any such July 1st, and this agreement shall continue in force until so terminated.

In response to the foregoing warrant a mere handful of the voters of Brumfield assembled at Town Hall. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 by the Town Clerk, who then read the warrant and pro- coded to Article 1, the election of a moderator. The nomination of M. G. Tarbell was made and seconded and there being no further nominations, it was voted, on motion of Mri/ Madison. that the town Check cost one ballot for M. G. Tarbell for moderator. The Clerk called the meeting to order and on motion of J. C. Shaw , it was voted to dispense with the reading of the warrant.

The sum of 708.35 was appropriated from Surplus Revenue to pay the unpaid bills of 1925. After considerable discussion , a motion by R.C. Sherman to appropriate $00.00 to purchase two new ford tou truck chasses was lost . 37 voting for and 44 against.


Adjournment was made from 12 to 1 for dinner which the ladies served in the basement. Business resumed at 1 P.M.


A motion by orlo P Parker to reconsider action taken on Article 6, was lost.


Art 19 The question of the need of a fire truck was discussed at some length . in motion of C. B. Brown that a committee of five consisting of George E. Hitchcock , Harry B. Landes , Frank B. Haley, Hubert F. Booth- and J. Clifford Shaw be appointed to look into the matter of Fire apparatus and protection; said Committee to report at some Special meeting and that the sum of $150. be appropriated for their use in building suitable reservoirs , two in the Village and one at East Brimfield, to insure a supply of water in case of need. It was so voted.


Art 20 A motion to appropriate the sum of 1800. to purchase the Upham property was not carried.


Art 21 Voted, to appropriate the sum of 360.30 to pay bill of Judge Kenefick for legal services.

Art. 28 Voted to discontinue Brothers Road in west Brimfield. At 2 o'clock, it was voted to Extend the time for closing the Polls to 3 o'clock.
