Special Town Meeting held Saturday July. 11th 14


The vater of Brumfield assembled at the Town Hall on Saturday July 11th 1914 in response to the foregoing warrant. The meeting was called to order by the Town Clerk who read, the warrant calling the meeting. The meeting was was fined at 8, o'clock and five minutes. P. M. Edward B. Brown and Charles N. Filer were appointed tellers to assist in checking, assorting and counting the ballats cast, a ballot was then taken for moderator with the ( & 2 worn) following result. whole number of ballots cast. twenty eight (28) of which Edward Butterfield received, twenty votes and was declared elected, and accepted the office. and was sworn.


A motion was made to take up article Third, but the motion was not carried, and as Orus Parker was not present who was to report on the question , it was proposed to wait until he came Mr Parker having arrived the town proceeded to buisness and Article Second was taken up and Mr Parker reported for the committee of Trustees of the academy reading a proposition which had beendrawn up. and offering the following motion Vated That the Town of Brimfield authorize its School Committee to sign a contract between the Town and. the Hitchcock Free Academy for the purpose of making Said academy a Town High School. When such project shall be approved by the State Board of Education and attorney General. after a thorough discussion of the question and some amend- ments made which were not carried . It was vated to take avate by ballot on the motion by yes or no using the check list. which resulted as follows whole number of ballots east forty nine (49) No. 19. Yes. 30. and the motion was carried.

annual State Election held Tuesday , November 30 1914 The waters assembled at the Town Hall on Tuesday Nov. 3. 1984. in response to the foregoing warrant. The meeting was called to order and opened by Orman Hicks Presiding Election officer at 10. lock a.m. and the warrant reas calling the meeting. The following ballot clerks and tillers. Merritt &. Dunham Samuel H. adams. Charles H. Filer and William S. Pearsall, who had been previously appointed . were is worn by the telek . The town clerk then delivered the specimen ballots and cards of instructions to the presiding officer, which were then ported as required by law. The Clerk also de lire the package of ballets said to contain 250 ballots to the presiding officer, and took his receipt for the in the presiding officer then broke the real and delivered the ballats to the ballot clerks and they receipted for them. at 10.30 a. In the ballot boy was opened for inspection and declared empty. the register standing at 000. The ballet box was there closed and locked and the key delivered to the Police officer George E. Hitchion, and the presiding officer then declared the polls open for the reception of ballots . (The ballot box failed to register offer minetti ballot for a few ballats, and then worked all right.)

To extend the time of closing the polls until 3. o'clock. P. m. OLA 3. o' clock and 2 minutes the falls were declared closed by the presiding officer . The ballat boy was Then opened and . the presiding officer proceeded to take the ballats from the boy and count them one by one as taken out. and the whole number was one hundred and eighteen . The ballot clerks proceeded to count the number of ballots delivered to vaters, and checked and it was found to be one hundred and eighteen (18) The ballat clerks and tellers then proceeded to canvass and court- the ballats cast which resulted as follows. To see if the town will vale to elect a committee of three citizens to examine the accounts of the overseers of the Poor, from the year beginning march 1st 1904 to the present year as during a longer period if necessary to determine the true financial condition of the Pour department. to report this condition at a future town meeting not later than the annual to recommend such a system of accounting, and report this in this department as shall enable the vaters to learn in any future annanel town report the true financial condition of the department and. and to make an appropriation to cover any necessary expense of this committee.

To see if the town will vote to require the Overseers of the Pour to read in this annual Town meeting any contract or agreement it has entered into for the lease or rental of the Town Farm and alms House, also to read any evidence of indebtedness or evidence of security for the same that may bedue to town on account of this department from any person


art. 21. To see if the town will require the school committee to read. In this annual town meeting any contract or agreement it has entered into with the Trustees of the Hitchcock Free academy.

To see if the town will vate to elect a committee of three Citizens to determine what steps can be taken to make a new contract, or to change the terms of the present contract with the Trustees of the Hitchcock Free academy to more carefully safeguard the interests of the town. This Committee to report at a future town meeting. not later than the next annual town meeting.


art. 23. To see if the town will vote to maintain the Brim. field Vocational agricultural School as a department of the Hitchcock Free academy, the High School of. Brimfield Art. 24 To see what action if any the town will take with reference to the unoccupied school buildings in this town."

Channal Town Meeting held Monday, February. 1.at 1915.


The vaters of Brumfield assembled at the Town Hall on Monday Feb. 1st 1915 in response to the foregoing warrant. The meeting was called to order by the Town & Pork, Miner H. Corbin who read the warrant calling the meeting. the meeting opened at ten o'clock a.m. Munroe S. Tarbell. Charles. O. Parker, Stanley S. Hicks and Clarence W. King, who had pre- -viously been appointed by the Selection as ballot clerks and tellesfor the election were severally sworn. a ballot was then taken for moderator with the following result. whole number of ballots cast twenty two and Robert f. Streeter received Twenty two votes, and was declared uns imously elected and sworn. The cards of instruction and specimen ballots were then delivered to the ballot clerk's by the Town Clerk to be posted. and a package of ballots for male voters. delivered to the ballot clerks said to contain two hundred and fifty ballots and one package said to contain sixty ballots for female voters and took their receipt for them. The ballot box was then opened for inspection, and declared to be empty by the moderator, and the register standing at 000. it was Then locked, and the key delivered to the Police officer George E. Hitchcock who had previously been appointed to that office and sworn. It ten o'clock and thirty minutes The moderator declared the polls open for the reception of of ballots . The ballot of John Franklin Brown waschalken. mr Brown - ged by Samuel N. Cicians. he claiming to be a voter of this town, his name being on the voting list. although objection being made that he had never been naturalized. but worth was administered to him by the moderator as the law provides hewriting his name on the ballot, and he was allowed to deposit it in the ballat box
