In the name of God, amen. I Timothy Hasaltine of Buxton in the Coun- ty of York and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, yeoman, being through the goodness of God, weak in body, but of a sound and perfect understand- ing and memory, do make this my last will and testament


Imprimis, I most humbly commit my soul to God who gave it, beseech- ing his most gracious acceptation of it through all prevailing merits of my most compassionate Redeemer Jesus Christ who gave himself to be an atonement for my sins, and is able to save all that come to God by him, in whom I trust he will not reject me a returning penitent sinner, in this hope and confidence I render up my soul with comfort, humbly beseeching the blessed God through the Redeemer to prepare me for the time of my disolu- tion & then to take me to himself, into the heavenly inheritance, where there is fulness of joy, and peace forevermore, amen


Imprimis, I give my body to the earth from whence it was taken ; in full assurance of its resurrection at the last day, as for my burial. I desire that it may be decent, which I shall leave to the discretion of my executor after named, as to my worldly estate which God has been pleased to bestow on me, after my just debts and funeral charges are paid, I give and bequeath in the manner as follows that is to say


I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Ruth Hasaltine, the use and im- provement of one room in the house where I now dwell, and that room she shall chuse with one third of the cellar under said house with the priviledge to go down into said cellar and up and to and from said room that she shall chuse to said cellar ; also one third of the barn that stands on my farm where I now dwell and in and out at the doors of said house when and so often as she pleases.


also the one third of the income of all my real and personal estate, so long as she remains my widow, and no longer. also all the household furni- ture to be at her disposal, to whom she shall be pleased to give it, forever ; which I order my executor hereafter named to fulfil and perform, by deliv- ering the income of one third to my said wife or her order, of my real and personal estate

I give and bequeath unto my son Timothy Hasaltine, the sum of thirty Pounds, to be paid by my Executor after named, eighteen Pounds of the said sum to be paid in one month after my decease, and twelve Pounds to be paid in one year after my decease, also thirty Pounds to be paid in neat stock, or produce of the land, at the market price when delivered which is to be in the following order, vizt one third of said sum to be paid in two years after my decease, and one third in three years after my decease & the other third in four years after my decease, also a colt, if my mare should have one in eight months after the date of this my last will and tes- tament and to be delivered by my executor at six months old which I order my executor to fulfil and comply with according to the time and sums of payment as expressed as aforesaid


I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anna Boothby, the wife of Jona- than Boothby the sum of six shillings, to be paid by my Executor named in five years after my decease


and unto my son William Hasaltine whom I make sole executor of this my last will and testament, I give demise and bequeath to him and his heirs and assigns, all and every of my messuage, lands, tenements and hereditaments, together with all the farming utensils whatsover, and of what kind soever, and to receive my just debts, and to pay my just debts, and to see that all the legacies are paid according to the time herein set forth, together with my funeral charges, and the funeral charges of my be- loved wife, if she should decease remaining my widow

Mrs. Ruth Hasaltine, by her first husband, had Ezekiel, born March first, 1754, and died in Concord, New Hampshire. unmarried ; Jonathan, born June twentieth. 1756, and died at Haverhill : Jeremiah, born October tenth, 1758, and married Eliza- beth Flanders, December twenty-ninth. 1785.


The children of William Hasaltine and his first wife, Sarah Davis, were Sarah, married Thomas Carter : Timothy, died young ; Joseph, married Sarah Robinson. By his second wife, Mrs. Phebe Libby, he had Ruth, born Angust first. 1806, married Aaron Libby ; Susan. born April twenty- seventh. 1809. married, first, William Jordan,-secondly, John Carr: and Phebe, born August fourteenth, 1813. married Isaac W. Eaton. William Hasaltine died the tenth day of November, 1824. Mrs. Phebe Hasaltine died in August, 1855.
