The second day of August - anno Domini, one thousand seven hundred & eighty two.
I Samuel Rounds of Buxton in the county of York, in the common- wealth of Massachusetts yeoman, being in a declining state of health, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God : therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament ; that is to say.
Principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in christian decent burial at the discretion of my executors, nothing doubt- ing but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form
Imprimis. I give and bequeath to Mary, my dearly be- loved wife the use and improvement of one third part of all my estate both re:1 and personal, during her life, including half my dwelling house, and a third of the barn ; and after her decease, to go to my two sons Sam-

I give to my two sons above mentioned vizt Samuel Rounds and Theodore Rounds, whom I likewise constitute make and ordain my sole executors of this iny last will and testament, to them their heirs and assigns forever, the whole of my real estate, being the homestead on which I live lying in said Buxton, being a sixty acre lot, be it more or less ; the southwesterly half of said lot I give to the said Samuel, the northeasterly half to the said Theodore; each son to have the one half according to the quality of the said land as well as quantity.
Item. I give and bequeath to each son and daughter of my son Joseph Rounds deceased, twenty six shillings and eight pence lawful money, to be paid in equal halves, by my two sons my executors above named : to be paid in one year after the decease of myself and my wife.
Item. I give and bequeath to each of my own daugh- ters viz. Mary Smith - Sarah Whitney - Joanna McDonald & Rhoda Smith to each of them, or their heirs, twenty six shillings & eight pence lawful money ; to be paid by my said executors in equal halves, in one year after my own and my wife's decease.
and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments wills legacies & bequests and executors by me in any way before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other, to be my last will and testament.

His son, Samuel. married Dorcas Edwards, lived and died in Buxton ; Theodore, lived and died in Shapleigh, Maine ; Joseph, married Sarah Gerry of York, Maine, lived and died in Buxton, on the "Gore," near Gorham ; and Joanna, married John McDonald, of Bux- ton.
The children of Samuel, and his wife, Dorcas Edwards, were Daniel, lived and died in Limington, Mame; Joseph, lived and died in Danville, Maine ; Samuel, married Elizabeth Austin ; and Moses, who married Sarah Davis. The two last sons lived and died on the homestead in Buxton.
The children of Samuel, and his wife. Elizabeth Austin, were Stephen, who resides in Saco, Maine; Charles, in Scarborough, Maine ; George and Albert, in Baldwin. Maine ; Daniel ; and Maria, who married Ephraim Roberts and resides in Gorham.
The children of Moses, and his wife, Sarah Davis, are William and Fred- erick, who reside in Buxton.
Theodore, who settled and died in Shapleigh, left a large family among whom were George, married Susanna Hanscom ; David, born July third, 1778, married Anna Lewis. She was born July twenty-fourth, 1781, and died January, 1842. He was lost at sea, in the Privateer, Mars, in 1812; John ; Abner ; Benjamin and Theodore.
The children of David, and his wife, Anna Lewis, were Samuel. born January twenty-eighth, 1801. married Maria Hall. July sixteenth, 1824, and resides at Kennebunkport. Maine, on the place where his father died : Theo- dore, born January second. 1803, died at sea, unmarried, -he sailed from Kennebunkport and the vessel was never heard from; David, born October twelfth, 1806, died, at sea. of small pox, unmarried, on a voyage to the West Indies : Mary Ann, born October eighth, 1810, married Israel Clough, and resided in Kennebunkport where she died, but left no children ; Benjamin, born February ninteenth. 1813. married. first, Mehitable Buzzel, who died at Kennebunkport, -secondly. Ellen Brainard, of Bangor, Maine, and he had one child by each. Mary Ann. by the first, and Robert, by the second ; George, born April thirteenth, 1815, married Eliza Cleaves by whom he has had Mehitable, Theodore and Edward.
The children of Samuel, and his wite, Maria Hall, were William H., born September first, 1826, married Lydia A. Wildes, by whom he has had Me- hitable, William, and Adoniram J .: David born October eleventh, 1828, and died aged thirteen years ; Maria, born June twenty-eighth, 1830, married George Grant : Samuel, born August fifteenth, 1833, married Hannah Christian ; Lewis, born June twenty-seventh, 1835, married June thirtieth, 1856, Georgiana J. Libby, and resides in Gorham ; and Gerry, born February twenty-first, 1811, married Sophronia, daughter of Major Nicho- las Davis, March thirteenth, 1833, and resides with his father in Buxton.
The children of Gerry, and his wife, Sophronia Davis, are Elizabeth H., married. September fourth, 1861, Joseph A. Cochran, a merchant in Con- cord, New Hampshire; Cordelia L., married, February twenty-first, 1860, R. C. Harmon, of Portland, Maine ; Martha M., married Daniel S. Taylor, and resides in San Francisco, California ; Wealthy A. J., married, October eigh- teenth, 1864, Oliver H. I Samnel Hovey of Buxton, in the county of York and commonwealth of Massachusetts, in New-England, yeoman, being infirm of body, but through the goodness of God of sound disposing mind and memory, not knowing how short my time in this world is do make and ordain this my last will and testament : - First of all, I do commit my Soul into the hand of God who gave it, hoping in his mercy through the merits of Christ for eternal life ; and my body to the earth, to be buried in a decent man- ner, at the discretion of my executor hereafter named, in hope of its resurrection unto immortal life, - and respecting those worldly goods it has pleased God to bestow upon me, , I will and order the same to be dis- posed of in the manner following ; that is to say.
Imprimis. I will and order to my beloved wife, Lydia Hovey, the sole use and improvement of the westerly half of my house together with my household stuff properly so called, with one cow, for and during the term of her natural life : except two beds hereafter mentioned : which are given to my son Samuel, and daughter Lydia.
Item. I will and order to my son Samuel Hovey, after the decease of my wife, to him and to his heirs forever, my homestead house, and land also the one half of my household stuff properly so called: together with half a right of the undivided land in said Buxton, originally the right of Caleb Kimball : and the residue or remainder of my personal estate after the legacies hereafter named are delivered to the legatees here- after named, I will and order in case my said son shall pay all my just debts and funeral expences as soon as may be after my decease, and also the expences of the settlement of my estate. whom I here order so to do.
Item. I will and order to my six daughters, viz Hannah the wife of Enoch Little ; Mary the wife of Ebenezer Chaplain, Sarah the wife of Wells Chase, Mehitable Hovey, Elizabeth the wife of Jonathan Thurston, Phebe the wife of Stephen Jaques, to them & their heirs, to be equally divided between them, the sum of one Pound ten Shillings lawful money : to be paid in silver currency at six shillings and eight pence ₱ ounce.
