NEW RICHMOND. A progressive incorporated city, located on the Wiscon- sin Central Line, and on the Northern division of the C., St. P. M. & O. Ry in St. Croix county, 18 miles northeast of Hudson, the judicial seat, and 35 east of St. Paul, Minu. It is surrounded by a level,
productive prairie country, which is nearly all under cultivation, is within 30 miles of a great northern pine belt, and 20 west of a large tract of hardwood timber, which in winter affords employment to the wood- man and industrious farmer. Willow river furnishes water power to operate one of the finest flouring mills in the State, it also floats to this point millions of feet of pine to be sawed and dressed. There are 5 churches, graded schools, 2 banks, 2 public halls, saw and planing mills, num- erous large and well stocked special and general stores, etc. Two weekly news- papers, the St. Croix Republican and the Voice, are published.
