Also known as Spier-, has a popu- lation of over 200, and is situated 10 miles southwest of Louisville, the county seat. It has a Methodlist church, schools for wisite and col- ored, a steam saw mill, and express and telegraph offices. Shipments through this place are very large, being estimated at 15,000 biles of cotton and 150 of wool, in addition to quantities of beeswax, hides, tal- low, pourtry and exgs. BAY CREEK. Gwinnett County.


Situated on the creek of the same name. Is about 73 miles from Lawrenceville the county seat, and nearest railroad station, and 35 miles from Atlanta its nearest banking town. A telegraph station will soon be established at Lawrenceville. Su- wanee 17 miles distant, is the nearest express office. Population about fifty. The creek has good shoals and furnishes abundant water power, operating a flouring mill, saw mill and gin. Mount Gilead Academy is one mile from the village, There is a Baptist church. Cotton is the prin- cipal produet. Ship via Lawrence- ville. Was established as a postoffice in 1870, and receives a weekly mail from Loganville by carrier. M. P. Pratt, P. M.
