Located 17 miles southwest of Blairsville, the county seat, and 40 from Gainesvile, the nearest railroad, express and telegraph station and banking point.


GAINESVILLE.

is governed by a mayor and board of aldermen, has a fire engine, and is steadily improving, as the new build- ings constantly being erected testify, The shipments of cotton amount to about 6,300 bales annually. The county seat. Is the most im- tant town on the above named rail- road. Is situated within four miles of the Chattahoochee river, and 53 from Atlanta, is in a portion of the state noted for its beautiful scenery ; 1,400 Adair Robert B., dentist Alexander Davis, genl store feet above the level of the sea, and as desirable a summer resort as the Amoss & Dozier ( Benjamin B. Amoss, Joel H. Dozier), grocers state contains, having a climate equal to that of Italy. The first house Arlington House, B. F. In 1870, the population was about 450, which has increased to nearly 2,000. There are several springs located near this place. The White Sulphur Springs located about Baptist Banner, J. M. Gor- dan), genl store 6 miles to the northwest, the Porter Springs 28 miles to the north in the mountains, the New Holland Springs two miles east on the Air-Line road, Blackstone James, meat market and the Gower Springs one mile from Boone & Rudolph (Joseph R. Boone, Amzi Rudolph), genl store town easily accessible by street rail- way. They are all of easy access by Bostain Harvey W., shoe mnfr Breaker D.
