County seat, has a population of 325, and is 23 miles from Toomsbor- ongh, the nearest railroad, express, or telegraph offlee. Hus four steam saw, grist and planing mills. Bap- tist and Methodist churches. Dublin Academy with sixty pupils and a select school. There are two weekly newspapers published here, the Ga- zette and Post. The Oconee river one- half mile distant, is navigable to this point. Cotton, lumber and turpen- tine are the principal shipments ; the shipment of cotton amounting to about 5,000 bales annually.
