The county seat ; has a population of 1,115, express and telegraph of- fices, Presbyterian, Methodist and Baptist churches, and two weekly papers-the Georgia Enterprise and Covington Star-and a female col- lege. This place receives more cot- ton than any other point between Atlanta and Augusta, the annual re- ceipts amounting to about 13,000 bales. Mr. Thomas Camp is erect -! ------ ing machine shops here, which, when completed, will be one of the largest in the South.
