MEETING OF THE TOWN CLERKS
Of the Eighth Representative Norfolk District.
The Clerks of the Towns of Norwood and Walpole in the County of Norfolk, said Towns comprising the Norfolk Representative District number eight, at a meeting held on the seventeenth day of November, A. D. 1916, at twelve o'clock noon, said day being Friday and being the tenth day following the State Election of Tuesday, November seventh, 1916, A. D., to make out under our hands the following complete return of all votes cast for representative to the General Court in said district as follows:
Julius Guild of Walpole, (Republican) had twelve hundred thirty-eight (1238); John P. Riley of Norwood (Democratic) had nine hundred sixty- five (965) ; blanks, three hundred nineteen (319).

December 14, 1916.
At a meeting held on a Warrant signed by the Selectmen, which meeting was held on the 14th day of December, A. D. 1916, it was voted on motion by James A. Halloran that this meeting be dissolved, the original warrant and attested copies thereof not having contained therein the year date, namely, 1916.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING.
December 22, 1916.
On a Warrant duly issued by the Selectmen and dated December 14, 1916, and signed by Frank G. Allen, George K. Bird, Patrick J. Lydon and John E. Folan, Selectmen of Norwood, the proper service of which warrant was duly attested by Harry W. Swift, Constable of Norwood.
All of the requirements of the Statutes and By-laws relating to Town Meetings having been complied with, the meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Clifford B. Sanborn, the articles contained in this warrant and the action taken thereunder being as follows:

Article 1. To hear and act on the reports of Committees.
Voted: To accept report of New High School Building Committee as a report of progress.
Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to accept and allow the taking and lay out, for Public Park Purposes, of certain land as proposed and re- ported by the Selectmen and to raise or borrow and appropriate money for the taking of said land by purchase or otherwise, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: By borrowing the sum of $11,100.00.
Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Sections 58 to 64 inclusive, of Chapter 48 of the Revised Laws and amendments thereto.
Voted: To accept.
Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to reconsider and rescind the action taken under Article 4 of the Warrant of the Special Town Meeting held February 25, 1916, which action was taken at the adjournment of said meeting on March 16, 1916, except so much of said action as relates to the borrowing of money; and in substitution for such action, to authorize and direct the purchase for public school building purposes of a part of the land described in the action so taken, and any other land with the whole or a part of the moneys borrowed under the authority of the vote under said article, or take any other appropriate action in said matter.
Voted: To so reconsider and rescind, and to substitute for such action authority to purchase for the purposes set forth in the original action, land in the same approximate location.
Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to accept and allow an alteration, by the Selectmen, of Washington Street, by widening on the westerly side thereof, from a point near the corner of Day Street to a point on Walpole Street and raise or borrow and appropriate money to meet the expense of said alteration and widening or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow said alteration.
Article 6. To see if the Town will vote to accept and allow an altera- tion, by the Selectmen, of Winter Street by widening on the northerly side thereof and east of Washington Street and raise or borrow and appropriate money to meet the expense of such alteration by widening or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To accept and allow said alteration.
Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to appoint a committee to con- sider and report to a future Town Meeting, on the matter of establishing a new town way under and through the property of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Company at some point south from Winslow Station or take any other action in the matter. '
Voted: To appoint a Committee of Five.
Article 8. To see if the Town will vote to extend the sewerage system in the following streets or any of them, or take any other action in the matter, namely: Day Street from Washington Street westerly; Nichols Street from Vernon Street southerly; Florence Avenue from Nichols Street westerly; Walpole Street from Washington Street southerly, and raise or borrow and appropriate money to construct the same.
Voted: The sum of $4,100.00.
Article 9. To see if the Town will vote to approve the action of the Selectmen, as Cemetery Commissioners, in setting apart, for the use of the Roman Catholic population, a portion of Highland Cemetery additional to the portion already so set apart, said action being designated as regulation No. 9 of the Highland Cemetery.
Voted: To approve the action of the Selectmen.
Article 10. To see if the Town will vote to authorize and direct the Treasurer and Collector of Taxes, with the approval of the Selectmen, to

borrow on notes of the Town the sum of $10,000.00 for the purpose of con- structing conduits and installing cables for the transmission of electricity under such streets as may be determined by the Selectmen, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 142, Special Acts of the Legislature for the year 1916, and further vote that the sum be appropriated for the foregoing purposes.
Voted: To so authorize the Treasurer and Collector of Taxes.
Article 11. To see if the Town will vote to authorize and direct the Selectmen to purchase for the Municipal Light Department additional land adjoining the parcel on Market Street, now in use by the Electric Light Department, and appropriate money for said purpose or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To so authorize and direct the Selectmen, and appropriate the sum of $1,140.00 from earnings of the Municipal Light Dept.
Article 12 .. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to construct an addition to the present Electric Light Station Building and appropriate a sum of money therefor, or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: The sum of $5,000.00 for said purpose.
Article 13. To see if the Town will vote to extend the water mains on Rock Street and Roosevelt Avenue and raise and appropriate money for said purpose or take any other action in the matter.
Voted: To appropriate the sums of $1200 and $300.
Article 14. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to appropriate for the following purposes or any of them or take any other action in the matter, the same to be in addition to sums heretofore appropriated: Board of Health, Incidentals, Maintenance and Repairs of Highways and Operation of Stone Crusher, Highland Cemetery, Police Department.
Voted: The following sums: Board of Health, $350.00; Highways and Stone Crusher, $6,000.00; Highland Cemetery, $250.00; Police Depart- ment, $250.00.
Resolution .- That a rising votc of thanks and appreciation be extended to Mrs. E. J. Shattuck and her family, together with the Norwood Housing Association for generously contributing so much of value to the community and in this way making possible such a splendid development of our Town.
