Article 15. To see if the Town will vote to accept and allow a relocation and alteration, by the Selectmen, of Prospect street, of a widening ex- tending from the junction of Prospect street with Upland Road and Wash- ington street, in a westerly direction as shown on a plan filed with the Town Clerk by the Selectmen, and raise or borrow and appropriate money for said purpose, or take any other action in the matter.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING March 6, 1919


On a warrant duly issued by the Selectmen and dated February 24, A. D. 1919, and signed by Patrick J. Lydon, Thomas B. Mulvehill, Walter F. Tilton and Oliver J. Barr, Selectmen of Norwood, the proper service of which warrant was duly attested by Harry W. Swift, Constable of Norwood.

All of requirements of the Statutes and By-laws relating to Town Meet- ings having been complied with, the meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Clifford B. Sanborn, the articles contained in this warrant and the action taken thereunder being as follows:


Article 1. To see what sum the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to meet the expense of the Board of Survey for the current financial year, or take any other action in the matter.


Voted: By transfer the sum of $200.00.


Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropri- ate the sum of money required to meet the portion of the cost of the Nor- folk County Hospital assessed or apportioned upon the Town as ordered by the County Commissioners under the provisions of Chapter 286 of the General Acts of 1916, or take any other action in the matter.


Voted: That the sum of $27,137.99 be appropriated to meet the appor- tionate cost of the Norfolk County Hospital as assessed or apportioned upon the Town, of which amount $27,000.00 be borrowed on Notes of the Town, and the sum of $137.99 together with an additional sum of $6,756.00 be appropriated from Excess and Deficiency to pay such portion of cost, to- gether with interest for the current year, on the Notes of Indebtedness.


Article 3. That the sum of $500.00 be raised and appropriated for Band Concerts during the season of 1919, to be held at the Band Stand. (On petition of A. C. Morrow and others.)


Voted: By transfer the sum of $500.00.


Article 4. To see what sum the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to pay not more than the ordinary and reasonable compensation for care actually rendered or furnished by the Norwood Hospital, or other hospi- tals in the vicinity of Norwood, to such persons as may be in whole or in part unable to care for themselves, the same to be in addition to sums ap- propriated for the care of contagious diseases and for institutional relief, or take any other action in the matter.


Voted: The sum of $2,000.00 by transfer.


Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to extend the sewer system on North avenue and on Summit avenue, and raise or borrow and appropri- ate money for said purposes, or take any other action in the matter.


Voted: To extend the sewer on North avenue and Summit avenue, and by transfer the sum of $2,400.


Article 6. To see if the Town will vote to amend the By-laws relating to the prevention of fires and the preservation of life, or take any other action in the matter.

On a warrant duly issued by the Selectmen and dated October 14, 1919, and signed by Frank G. Allen, Patrick J. Lydon, Thomas B. Mulvehill, and Walter F. Tilton, Selectmen of Norwood, the proper service of which was duly attested by Harry W. Swift, Constable of Norwood.


All of the requirements of the Statutes and By-laws having been com- plied with, the meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Clifford B. Sanborn, the articles contained in this warrant and the action taken there- under being as follows:


Article 1. To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Chap- ter 293 of the General Acts of Massachusetts for the year 1916, being an act entitled, "An Act to authorize the licensing by cities and towns of motor vehicles carrying passengers for hire," together with all amendments of said act.


Voted: To accept Chapter 293 of the General Acts of 1916.


Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to accept and allow as laid out by the Selectmen, a main drain to be known as the South Norwood Drain, and to extend from Washington street in and through Heaton avenue to an existing main drain in land near Heaton avenue, and borrow and ap- propriate a sum of money to meet the expense of the construction of said main drain. And to assess a proportional part of the expense of said drain upon the persons benefited thereby as provided by law, or take any other action in the matter.


Voted: To accept and allow as laid out by the Selectmen the Main Drain hereinbefore referred to and that the sum of $2,500.00 be borrowed on notes of the Town and appropriated to meet the expense of the con- struction of said Main Drain, and further voted that an apportional part of the expense be assessed upon the persons benefited thereby.

trict, at a meeting held November 14, 1919, at 12 o'clock noon, do make out under our hands the following complete return of all votes cast for Representative to the General Court in said District as follows:


Frederic W. Kingman of Walpole had fourteen hundred fifty-seven (1457); Francis B. Coughlin had ten hundred one (1001); Blank votes cast, one hundred ninety-three (193).
