ANNUAL TOWN MEETING.
Monday, January 15, 1917, and adjournment to March 7, 1917.
On a Warrant duly issued by the Selectmen under date of January 3, A. D. 1917, and signed by Frank G. Allen, John E. Folan, Patrick J. Lydon and Oliver J. Barr, Selectmen of Norwood, the proper service of which warrant was duly attested by Harry W. Swift, Constable of Norwood.
All of the requirements of the Statutes and By-Laws relating to elections and Town Meetings having been complied with, the meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Clifford B. Sanborn, the articles contained in this warrant and the action thereunder being as follows;
Article 1. To choose all necessary town officers. The following are to be chosen by ballot; namely, Two Selectmen for three years, who shall be Overseers of the Poor and Surveyors of Highways; one Town Treasurer and Collector of Taxes for one year; one Finance Commissioner for three years; one Moderator for one year; one member of the Board of Health for three years; two members of the School Committee for three years; two trustees of the Morrill Memorial Library for three years; six constables for one year; and also upon the same ballot to vote upon the following question;
" Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in the Town? "

Voted: The sum of $1809.29 be appropriated for the maintenance and repairs of highways, in addition to other amounts appropriated.
Article 6. To see what disposition the Town will make of money re- ceived for dog licenses.
Voted: That $766.50 be appropriated for the support of the Morrill Memorial Library.

1. Abatement of Taxes.
Voted: The sum of $1500.00 by taxation and the sum of $1,000.00 by transfer from Excess and Deficiency Account.
2. Selectmen, Overseers of the Poor, and Surveyors of Highways.
(a) Salaries. (b) Incidentals.
Voted: (a) That the Selectmen receive no salaries. (b) By taxation for the incidental and personal expense of the Selectmen the sum of $250.00.
3. Town Clerk and Accountant and Bookkeeper. (a) Salaries. (b) Incidentals.
Voted: Salary of Town Accountant and Bookkeeper, $1,800.00. Salary of Town Clerk, $125.00 and for incidental expenses, $2,650.00. And that all fees received shall be paid into the Town Treasury.
4. Treasurer and Collector of Taxes. (a) Salaries. (b) Incidentals. Voted: Salary of Treasurer and Collector of Taxes, $1,300.00. For in- cidentals the sum of $1,100.00.
5. Assessors. (a) Salaries. (b) Incidentals.
Voted: For salaries of Assessors, $900.00; for incidental expenses, $700.00.
6. Certification of Bonds and Notes.
Voted: the sum of $100.00.
7. Finance Commission. (a) Incidentals.
Voted: the sum of $200.00.
8. Law. (a) Salary. (b) Incidentals.
Voted: for salary the sum of $900.00 and for incidentals the sum of $100.00.

Voted: for salaries the sum of $300.00 and for incidentals the sum of $770.00.

Voted: (a) For salarics, $4,250.00. (b) Incidentals, including motoriza- tion of Hook and Ladder Truck, $3,550.00.
15. Maintenance and Extension of Fire Alarm System.
Voted: The sum of $950.00.

Voted: For salary the sum of $500.00; incidentals the sum of $25.00.

22. Sewer Department. (a) Maintenance. (b) Particular Sewers. Voted: For maintenance, $3,900.00. For particular sewers, $200.00.
23. Sewer Construction.
Voted: the sum of $6000.00. By taxation, $175; by transfer, $5,825.
24. Maintenance and Construction of Main Drains, and cleaning brooks and drains other than main drains.
Voted: the sum of $5,300.00. By transfer from Water Rates.
25. Maintenance and repairs of highways, culverts and bridges, high- way equipment, paving gutters, building sidewalks, setting edgestones, re- moval of snow and ice, sanding sidewalks, street signs and guide boards and operation of stone crusher plant.
26. Watering and Treating Streets.
Voted: That 25 and 26 be considered together.
Voted: That the sum of $25,090.71 be raised and appropriated and the further sum of $3,000.00 be appropriated from the funds in Excess and Deficiency Account for maintenance and repairs under the foregoing sec- tions, and that the further sum of $5,000.00 be raised by a borrowing on a note for one year and appropriated, together with the sum of $2,958.00, which shall be raised by taxation for the construction of Bituminous Ma- cadam Paving.
