SEVENTY-FOURTH ANNUAL REPORT

The overdraft on the miscellaneous account is largely caused by a change in the method of insuring the town property.

In past years each risk has been insured separately and at a specific rate, varying with the risk, and many of the policies were issued for one year only.

Under the new method a blanket policy is issued covering all property owned by the town and for a term of three years. Under the former method $127,925.00 insurance for three years. cost $3,127.24 while under the present method $158,000.00 in- surance for three years will cost $2,022.40.

Report of the Overseers of the Poor

The Overseers of the Poor herewith submit their report for the year ending December 31, 1909.

The amount expended for aid to the poor out of Almshouse is so much in excess of the appropriation, owing to the fact that the sum of $1,191.84 was paid to the McDonald Hospital at Brookline for two inmates. One died during the year; the other is still at the hospital.

At the Almshouse Mr. M. M. Sullivan and wife continue in charge as warden and matron. The overseers are well pleased with the manner in which the home is conducted. Average expense per inmate $2.31.
