Report of the Selectmen.


The Selectmen herewith submit their report of their doings for the year ending December 31, 1908.


HIGHWAYS.


REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS.


To the Selectmen:


Work on the highways was begun according to the usual custom, by cleaning the gutters as soon as the ground would permit in the spring. After which, graveling and other repairs were done on the various streets as follows: Cross street, 469 loads gravel; South Main street, 900 feet cobblestone road, for which 500 loads of stone and gravel were used and 27 loads ashes on sidewalk; Alden street, 85 loads gravel; South street, 1,200 feet cobblestone road, for which 379 loads stone and gravel were used; Centre street, 380 loads gravel; Grove street, 22 loads gravel; Lafayette street, 17 loads gravel, laying 20 feet 12-inch pipe; Gold street, 22 loads gravel; High street, 90 loads gravel and removing large stones; Canton street, 101 loads gravel; North Main street (West Corner), 98 loads gravel; Chestnut street, 22 loads gravel and removing stones and repairing two catchbasins; Pond street, 19 loads gravel and 42 loads ashes; Oak street, 110 loads gravel; Allen street, 7 loads gravel and repairing bridge; North street, 145 loads gravel; Liberty street, 41 loads gravel; Warren street, 21
