TOWN OF RANDOLPH, MASS.
REPORT OF SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS
To the Voters of Randolph :
1 Work on the Highways, was begun according to the usual custom, by cleaning the gutters. They were cleaned with the Road Machine. As it had been a long time since some of them had been cleaned, it was very slow work, making it more expensive removing so much obstruction. We cleaned the following : Cot- tage St., 1 1-4 miles on North St., part of Mill St., How- ard St., Plain St., Liberty St., Allen St., Roel St., Mt. Pleasant Square, Belcher St., Wales Ave., Cross St., Silver St., Fowler St., West St., South St., Maple St., part of Centre St., Woodlawn Ave., Fairview Ave., Fairmount St., and Pond St., at a cost of $1355.00.

APPARATUS
The apparatus of the department consist of the
60
TOWN OF RANDOLPH, MASS.
following :
One American La France Combination.
One Maxim 400 gallon Pumping Engine. One Ford forest fire combination.
The Amoskeag steam fire engine as well as the Hook and Ladder have been quartered at the No. 2 station.
The Department has in service 2500 ft. of 21/2 in. hose. 300 ft. of 11/4 in. hose and 350 ft. of 3/4 in. hose all of which is in good condition. 500 ft. of 21/2 in. hose should be purchased this year and that would allow us to keep each of the large trucks loaded with dry hose all the time. The condition of the Central Station is very good at present, the outside having been painted, the cupola repaired and shingled, the small shed connected with the station also shingled, puts it in first class shape. The No. 2 station is in need of repair but it does not seem advisable to spend much money on it just now.
The American La France truck should be painted this year sure. The addition of two new trucks to the Department in the last year has greatly increased the work of Driver Bailey but everything has been taken care of in first class shape.
Every alarm is now answered by a call driver who stands ready to take out the second piece of apparatus if needed, which greatly increases our fire protection. The fire alarm system is in fair shape just now, but there are still some parts of the town that need new wire bad.
