The appropriation for the Poor out of Almshouse has been handled as carefully as possible, resulting in

an unexpended balance of $1,018.22. There is also an unexpended balance of $1,282.93 on the Chapter 118, Mothers' Aid work.
Finally there is a net unexpended balance of $2,- 901.77 above all payments on all appropriations, which sum remains in the Town Treasury.
RICHARD F. FORREST,
ERSKINE H. COX, JAMES E. FOLEY, Board of Selectmen and Overseers of Poor.
REPORT OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH
The following cases of contagious disease occuring in the town were reported to this Board during the year :
Chicken Pox
1
Diphtheria
3
Measles 42
Mumps .
3
Scarlet Fever
29
Tuberculosis (with 4 deaths) 10
Typhoid Fever
1
Venereal Disease (lapsed case) 1
Cases of contagious disease have doubtless occurred that have not been officially reported. It may be that a physician is called only once, which generally is not. enough to determine fully the cause of illness. Again, sometimes parents refuse to call a doctor preferring

home treatment as in a recent occurrence on Oak Street, where this Board sent a physician on its own account, who found a typical case of scarlet fever in one child with the probability that the rest had already been attacked. Such neglect threatens serious conse- quences not only to the children concerned but to the entire neighborhood if not the whole town.
All persons therefore, are strongly urged to report to the Board of Health all suspicious cases of illness, unless a doctor is known to be in attendance.
RICHARD F. FORREST,
ERSKINE H. COX, JAMES E. FOLEY, Board of Health.
