ASSESSORS' NOTE, EXCISE TAX

All Motor Vehicles, registered for use on the Highways of Massa- chusetts must be taxed by the local Assessors. In the registration of these vehicles, great care should be taken, that the correct name and address, of the owners, as well as the make, year, type and model of the vehicle be correctly stated on the registration form. As the tax of the vehicle is determined by information furnished from the Registry. Much confusion has been caused by faulty registration. The value of motor vehicles for purpose of Taxation, is determined by the State Com-

TOWN OF LYNNFIELD

missioner of Corporations and Taxation, and is issued to local Assessors yearly. Also the rate of Tax, under Chapt. 60 A General Laws, Mass.

Motor Vehicles, transferred, or discontinued, at any time after reg- istration, are entitled to a refund of Tax, if due notice is filed, with the Board of Assessors. This notice may be in the form of Certificates of Exchange, issued by registered dealers, or by Affidavit of the owner, showing the disposal of the vehicle and the date of transfer. Applica- tion for refunds must be made within six months of the date of regis- tration, and in no case must the tax be reduced below $2.00 on each vehicle registered.

Respectfully submitted,

WILLIAM W. MOXHAM, GEORGE H. BANCROFT, EVERETT B. RICHARDS, Board of Assessors.
