YOUNG

Since 1935 I have been engaged in Information is desired concerning compiling my Mead ancestry with al- the descendants of Dlederich Young and wife Christina Schaarman. Church records of the Mohawk Val- ley indicate that they were. the par- ents of ten children:

1. Margaretha born Jan. 29, 1780 (probably died young,)

2. Pieter R. born Feb. 25, 1782, married Polly Elile and had at least seven children.

. 3. Maria . (Mary) born April 3, 1785, married Adam R. Coppernoll and had one son Jacob Coppernoll. 4. Jacob Paris Young born April 28, '1787,' married Eva Coppernoll and had at least seven children.

8. Diederich R., born May 13, 1795 married Nellie and had at least five children.

9. Phillip born Sept. 5, 1797, mar- State, died 1872 in Michigan. She re- ried Cornelia (Maria) and they had married after death of Israel and re- at least six children.

10. John R., (birth date not found)

moved to Middlebury, Indiana, in Elkhart county. Israel and family liv- was twice married, 1st Elisabeth; ed as early as 1826 in Clarksfield. 2nd, Catharine and there were at least nine children.

Living descendants of No. 3 (Ma- ria) and No. 4 (Jacob Paris) have been located and they have provided fairly complete information concern- ing these two families down to date.

As I am preparing the genealogy of this large family for my proposed book, 'The Young (Jung) Families of the Mohawk Valley," I would ap- lines mentioned, excepting Nos. 3 and preciate information concerning the 4.

lied lines. I have goon reason to be- lieve that Newman Gibson was the son of a sister of my great grand- father Mead, and that Olive who married James Gibson was an aunt of Newman Gibson. I think that Ar- rington was related some way to Ariel and James.

Ariel Gibson married 10-5-1841 in Huron county, Ohio, Polly Mead who was born 9-25-1826, daughter of Is- rael Thompson and Elizabeth (New- man) Mead. Ariel and his brother James came to Clarksfield, Huron county, Ohio in 1839, from the state of New York. (James was a black- smith who worked in Clarksfield Hollow; later he went west where he died.) Polly and Ariel were separat- ed. He went west where he probably married his childhood sweetheart, Hannah Carley. Poily . soon died in Clarksfield. Ariel then came back for his and, Polly's son.

Mead Family: Israel Thompson Mead, soldier 1812, born 1784, died 1832, married second wife, Elizabeth Newman, born 1787 in New York

Issue: Platt C., son of first wife, do not have her maiden name.

If I could locate descendants of! the Madison family, they might be able to help me find descendants of Newman Gibson who I believe to have been the son of Polly and Ariel. The girl listed under Newman may have been a Madison chiid, and New- man's wife, or his cousin.
