It being desired that the select men shonld explayne the words of thier grante made to the owners of the new Mille in refference to the height of the water in the Mille Creeke: It is for explanation thereof heereby declared. that by an ordinary course of water. is to be allwayes vnderstood. to be when. the water in Charles Riuer is generally within the bancks of the Riuer, And that whereas in that Grante. ther is no exp'sse limitation of height in time of drought. or want of water. it is allso heereby declared, that in time of want of water the water shall at no such time be raysed so high by the occasion of the new Mille. that the water be thereby hindred of its tree course or passage out of Charles Riuer to the Mill. pvided. and thus limitted vpon this condicion that the ppriators of the old Mille. thier heyers and As- signes. doe at no time heere after raise the water in the Ponde belonging there to so high as to prjudice the new mill in the back water. for the care of the Towne is and must needs be, that both milles now in Towne be duely accomadated and encouraged

Tymo: Dwight is chosen and apointed to receaue the contribution that shall be brought in from the Inhabitants toward the charge of the fraight of the shipp loade of Masts to be sent and prsented to his Matie according to the order of the Generall Courte.
A bill is ordered to be giuen to m' Man the schoolemaster to receaue Tenn pounds of the Constable in full of his sallary for the last yeare, wch is accordingly done

Ensigne makeing reporte to the select men that Daniell Ponde enformed him that he haue entertayned the widow Boucher his Aunte to liue in his Family where vpon it is resolued to demande that the said Daniell shall secure the Towne from damage by the said widdowe or any that may con- cerne her in the sume of Fiftie pounds within the space of eight dayes from this daye or else be vnder the penaltie exp'ssed in the Towne order dated 1: 11: 1666

Whereas it apeere vpon much experience that it is requisite that the waye formerly layed out betwixt the two middle deuisions of meadowe in the Broade meadowe be altered the ppriators in the seconde deuision from the south or vper River being content that sayd waye be discontinued. It is at prsent ordered. that that space of grounde wher the said way was layed be granted and layed out to the ppriators of the third deuision pvided that they lay so much space down at that end of thier pcels next that deuisione next the lower River. and Lieft Fisher Joh: Haward and Sergt Fuller are deputed and empowered to laye out this way accordingly and stake or doole the same out as they shall Judge most equall and conduceable to the supply of all concerned

1 That some effectuall care be taken for the payemt of Capt Pincheon of what is due to him in refference to Paucomptucke
2 That it be considered whether a house in the Church Lott be built. or due p'paration for a house and orchyard be made for supply of what may be needfull in that respect and that the meadow and other vpland. belonging to the Church be put into some way of empvemt
3 That the shruffe in the buriall place and in the way thether be cutt vp. and cleered and the ground in the buriall place be made euen. and the hills cast downe and the place so fenced as swine may be kept out
4 That some order be taken that more pasture for sheepe be pcured neere the Towne by Cutting the brush and cleereing the grounde

This daye being apointed for settling psons in the meeting house. (which worke was so ordered to the select men by the Towne in Generall meeteing). brother Woodward not being come vpon sending for he came; and it being then vnderstoode that seuerall of the Inhabitants had declared thier dissatis- faction in the late elections of the select men especially to the nonelection of Lieft Fisher. it apeereing by information that many more men did voate for him then the number published. where vpon it apeereing doubtfull that some men were wronged in thier libertie in election and brother Woodward refuse- ing to engage in the worke of a select man before elections were better cleered. it was agreed to enquire more fully into this case and in case it apeere as is rep"sented: that the Towne be called again together and be made acquainted heerewith. and be desired to declare thier resolution heerein that so the men they shall chuse shall act with the more sattisfaction in the Townes seruice

The Inhabitants now assembled did by paper voates declare Lieft Fisher to be elect for the worke of a select man for the ensueing yeare:
