herds by the reason of sume lettinge there cowes goeinge in the heard- walkes with out a Keeper and that the court order refferinge the care & charge about the orderinge herds to the Select men in every Towne : we doe therefore Order that whosoever shall suffer there cowes to goe in the Comon with in any of the cowe walkes of the seuerall herds in the Towne without the consent of the major part of the persons that belonge to the seuerall heards : thos persons so lettinge there catle goe at libertye from the heard shall pay to the herdsman for there catle as well as if he keept them; proportionably with the rest of the Inhabitants in the seuerall herds, that so none of the herds by such a practice of lettinge ther cowes goeing at libertie be disinabled or the in habitance over burthened for want of a compadent number of catle.

Agreed to call the Inhabitance to gether the 3d day of the next week in the moringe sune halfe an houre high to considare what shall be done . about the cart bridge over charles Riuer vnto the Iland.


Jun : the 24 Many of the Inhabitance beinge assembled agreed to chuse a comity to view the cart bridge in questan & if thay se it capable of repair- ing for a feasable charge then thay are to procure workemen & efect the busines at the Townes charge : The comitty impouered heerin are Timothy Dwight John Haward and Nath Coalburne


This day it was agreed the former order made to restrayne mouing in the Comon to the first tewsday in July shall stand in force till the 3d tewsday in July vpon the former penalty provided it hinder not a perteckuler grant from the Towne

Agreed that all the Comon meadowes in the Towne be layd out to the perteculer propriators accordinge to proportion and also a comity nowe to be chosin to setle & dermine the Corcumference of all the comon meadow that as neere as may be by there estemation there may be an equallity by an adi- titon of quantie to such parcells as are not so good in quallity as others be so that that which at prsent is not moughabl but may with a resonable charge be improved may com in to the corcumference: and so with the determina- tion of thes men heer after named the Inhabitance agree to sitt downe con- tented in reference to the aboue mentioned devision of meadows the worke to be done by the first of Jun next the comity are Joshua Fisher Nath Coal- burne Edward Richards Tho Fuller John Bacon


Itt beinge put to the consideration of the Inhabitance whether the former proposition in the yeare 1653 about the disposinge the comon medowe in foule meadowe be still of force & that thos persons then proposinge for the purchase there of ought still to be attended it is answered that there is no ingagement of the Towne now vpon that account


The Towne doe leaue the orderinge of persons sittinge in the meetinge hovse to Elder John Huntinge & the Select men nowe to be chosin
