Vpon the consideration of much damage done by swine & the Towne orders beinge neglected for the sufficient yokinge & ringing of swine &c

Towne orders and if any person shall neglect so to doe ; it is required of any of the inhabitants to yoak & ringe such swine as they shall find within fiue mills of the mettinghouse vnyoked or vnringed & for ther paines to recaiue twelf pence for every hogg that thay shall yoak & ringe or piggs -aboue two months old to be payed by the owners of the swine & vpon there refuseall: complaint to be made to the Select men who shall giue war- rant to the constable to leuie the same & all former orders stand in full force as formerly thay did not with standing this publication or addision & this .order to take place the 26 of Jun 1663 this order to be posted forthwith

Nouember the 4 : 1663 : after Lecture the Inhabitance hauing informa- tion of sume Land in a place cald the chesnut country where by thay might take up there grant of 8000 acres thought meet to send sume men to view the place : Anthony Fisher Juner and Nathanell Fisher and Sergt Fuller were sent to view the land & so to make there retorne to the Towne which was as followeth .

We whose names are heervnto subscribed beinge sent by the Towne of Dedham to make discouery of the chesnut country we haueing been vpon that discouery doe find it as we conceiue not sutable to answer the ends of the town there being a good quantie of vpland that is as we conceiue good land but very hard to subddew & for meadowe we saw very little & that in smale parcells that we think to be very inconsidderable

[77] John Littilfild make a motion to haue libertie to take so much clay as may be sufficient for the makinge a clampe of Brick for to supply the Towne with Brick and that he may take wood sufficient to burne it of the Comon Land
This motion is Granted prouided he shall supply the Inhabitants of the Towne with marcantable brick the next sumer not exseedinge 258 a 1000 so farr as a clamp will supply them
John Littilfild make a motion to haue an acre of Land Granted out in the Trayneng grownd a bout his house so as it may be layd out for his con- uenancie and not two prdijusall to the Trayneng Ground;
This Latter motion is Granted Prouided it be well & sufficiently Fenced and Brokin vp with in one yeare after the Grant heerof and if it be not with in that time improued as aboue said then this Grant to be void & the Land to be retorned to the Towne againe or so much of it as is not so improued this acre of Land to be Layd out by major Eliazer Lusher & Joshua Fisher

5 it is agreed to propose to the Towne whether thay will make a rate to sattisfy Timothy Dwight what is due to him or whether the Towne will sell him a parcell of Land to make a fearme of so as it might be vsefull to him he exspressing himselfe willinge to take sattisfaction in Land in case the Towne shall chuse that way:
6 Itt is a greed to ppose to the Towne that sume efectall care be takin for the knowledge & setlinge of our westerly bounce it being apprehended the Towne may elce suffer by the New plantation goein on att Nipmoke

The actts of the Select men were read over & allowed
The first motion beinge proposed to the Town there conclution is a bout the 8000 acres that the care of manageing the sam so as the Towne may be suplyed & in sume messure haue there ends answered is left to the select men now to be chosin
To the 2 motion aboue writin it is a greed the former act in the generall mettinge 1662 about the layinge out the comon meadowe is still resouled as it was then voted & the same comitty continud to efect the same & the care thereof to se it done left to the Select men now to be chosin that it be done by the first oppertunity with in the yeare voted in the affirmitiue
