As his mind unfailingly drifted back across the years, Uncle John told how he and hundreds of other Irishmen fought, drank and helped build the Springfield-Memphis divi- don of the Frisco system.
Born August 2. 1858 in Jackson county, Ohio, Uncle John, with his parents, moved to Springfield. Mo .. In October. 1869. springfield was not much of a town when he first arrived there. he said, although the Frisco had not started building in Spring- field, they were working near Lepayun, Mo .. Ralph Madden, brother of Roy. had left his brother at the Bliss home fol- lowing a fishing trip and was driving toward the business section of the city when he noticed an ambulance speeding downtown.

Mrs. Daniels was one of the charter members of the Springfield W. C. T. U. and an active worker .in the organization for more than 40 years. She was one of the organizers of the Children's home and served as ita first vicepresident.
She organized the Eudokia literary club 17 years ago, and was a charter member of the Robert H/Les chapter of the United"Daughters of the Con- federacy.
