Kochs-Swift Vows Read Last Night
THE home of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Bimona, 925 Bouth Kimbrough avenue, was the scene of a very pretty home wedding at 8 o'clock last night when Miss Mildred Swift of Chicago. Ill., became the bride of Mr. Herbert W. Kochs, also of Chicago.
Georgia Rafter played "Mid-Bum- mer Night's Dream" and "Venettan Love Bong" preceding the ceremony. The wedding march from "Lohengrin" was played softly the wedding party approached the altar.
The bride, carrying, & bouquet of white roses and lilles-of-the-valley. and gowned In Ivory chiffon velvet fashioned after the Victorian atyle. with a long tulle veil caught with orchid blossoms, approached the altar on the arm of her father, Mr. A. D. Swift. She was preceded by hcr aister, Miss Frances Swift, who was maid of honor. She wore a gown of nile green moire taffeta and carried a lovely bouquet of pink roses.
Miss Swift was met at the altar ty the groom and best man, Mr. Alfred Duane Swift, her brother. The cere- mony was read by Dr. A. J. McClung before an Improvised altar of oak leaves, chrysanthemums, and Ivy. the beauty of which was enhanced by tall burning tapers.
After the vows were read a recep- tion was held at the home of the bride's parents. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Swift, 951 Bouth Kimbrough avenue. The table was beautifully decorated, holding In the center love ship resting on a reflector lined artistica !- ly with malden hair fern and green tulle. The bride's cake and a groom'a cake were placed at the end of the table with lighted candelabra adding beauty to the scene.

Negro Killed Here In Revolver Duel; Killer Is Arrested
Argument over _ $20 gold piece ended in a fatal knife and pistol duel last night for Tom Anderson, 31. ne- gro, in tiny room at 338 West Wall street. Anderson had wielded the knife, a Barlow with a three-inch bladc. and Graydon Rutledge, 35- year-old negro who lives at 898 Franklin avenue, held the pistol.
Rutledge was arrested for investi- gation pending a report by Dr. Mur- ray Stone, coroner.
.Anderson fired 25 minutes after & Icad slug penetrated hia lung and heart. When his pockets were searched the $20 gold piece for theft of which he had died was found.
Rutledge called W. L. Starne, un- dertaker, and handed over hia pistol The latter called Dr. W. H. Burke of the Smith clinic, then police and the coroner. Dr. Burke found nothing could be done for the dying negro.

Two pioneers of Christian county. both 77 years of age. both sons of prominent settlers, both Civil war veterana and both of the same fam- !! y. died within a few hours of each Other. one in Long Beach. Cal., at 9 o'clock Sunday night and the other at Ozark, Mo., at 1 o'clock this morn- ing. 1
The two were J. O. Lawing. pioneer of Christian county, who died Sun- day night in Long Beach, and W. T. Lawing of Ozark, also a settler of Christian county, who died this morning at Ozark.
J. O. Lawing was a son of Robert D. Lawing and W. T. Lawing was & son of William A. Lawing. The Low- Ink family is one of the best known in the Ozarks section.
The cousins leave a host of friends and relatives in Springfield, Ozark and many smaller cities of this re- gion. As well as In other states. Both were well known In Springfield.

JUDGE HUBBARD WEDS AN OLDTIME FRIEND
An old friend of Judge C. A. Hub- bard's who was deputy constable un- der him when Hubbard was # justice of the peace 18 years, came back yes- terday-came back because he wanted the man for whom he worked here to perform his marriage ceremony.
The couple, Henry Lewalleu and Mim Etta Mason, of Springfield. we'd married at 8 O'clock last night at Judge Hubbard'e home. 1222 8t. Loula street. Among their friends and rela- tives present were: Mrs. Mary Coonts, Herry Snyder, Virginia Keithley. Les- ter Keithley. Harvey Reaves. Danici Reaves, Miss Edna Coonis, and Mrs. M. Hartley of Denver.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewallen wiu make their home at Branson. Mo. For a number of years he has been on u cattle ranch in Wyoming and when be called on Judge Hubbard yester- day it was the first time the two men had seen each other alnee shortly after they worked in the same office. 18 years ago.

Mrs. Margery Marie Doss, 26, of 1320 West Florida street. died yesterday In a Bpringfield hospital following all operation. She is survived by her husband. W. E., J .. her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hunter of Hoberg: alx sisters. Misses Wilma, Florence, Eliza- beth. Bylvia and Lella Hunter, and three brothers. Max. Leo and D. Hunter, all of Springfield.
