BOYS STUMBLE UPON SKELETON
Wrapped In Blanket, Bones Found Hidden in Haystaok Near Lamar
Special to The Leader - LAMAR. Mo., Dec. 26 .- Officers of Barton county today were trying vatnily .to unravel the mystery of one of the county's strangest murder cases.
The investigation, which so far has brought nothing to light, resulted from the finding of a complete skele- ton. wrapped In a half-rotted blanket and hidden in a haystack about six miles west of here.
The haystack where the skeleton was found by three boy hunters was only 75 or 100 yards from the main Lamar-Pittsburg highway. The skele- ton apparently ja that of a man who has been dead four'or five months. Examination by C. F. Konantz, cor- oner, revealed that the skull had been fractured in several places. The cor- oner has no doubt that the man was murdered and his body hidden in the stack.
A half-rolled lumber jack shirt of a dark gray color seems the only clue to the man's identity. The skeleton appeared to be about five feet. slx or seven inches tall. with amall bones. Kouantz said he belleved the man was between 35 and 30 years old.
No reports of missing persons in Barton county have been received by the coroner.
Donald Lee. Oscar Clark and Glen Clark were the youths who found the skeleton. They were poking about the haystack, looking for rabbits. when they stumbled upon it.
