Licked, slapped and struck her so that she had to leave him, Mrs. Hazel M. King declared in her divorce petition filed with the circuit clerk yesterday.


Mrs. Emma Moyer sued M. C. Moy- er for divorce, declaring that he cursed and struck her. Moyer was 1 said to be @ stockholder in the Springfield Foundry company and to be employed there. Mr. Clark served three and one- half years in the sixth Illinois Ca- valry and is the only one out of 104 men in his group alive today. He

Rase Berry, who were burned to death in a fire that razed their home Saturday. were held/at the Old Bidwell church, 15 miles northwest of here, thia aft‹ ernoen.

Mrs. Berry, who was badly burned about the arms and face in a vain attempt to save the children. was present when the services opened, but soon collapsed and was taken to a nearby home. Approximately 500 rural friends and neighbors were present.

Ralph Williams, 17. son of P. M. Williams, of Tama, lowa, formerly of Springfield, and a nephew of Robert Williams, of the Springfield Traction company. was killed Saturday at Tama. Detalis of his death were not learned by relatives in Springfield. The body will arrive in Springfield late today. Funeral servicea probably will be conducted at 10 o'clock Tues- day at Starne mortuary. Burtal will be In Clear Creek cemetery. The Reverend Sloan will officiate. He le survived by his father and & rister. Miss Erma Williams.


DR. D. M. TURNER


Dr. D. M. Turner, 80 years old. of 1205 East Commercial street, died Sunday following & lingering Ilinoss. Dr. Turner came to Springfield in 1900 and was in active practice until 18 years ago. He is survived by his wife and one son, William B. Turner, 1850 North Jefferson avenue. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock today at Klingner Funeral chapel. Burial will be In Eastlawn cemetery.

W. L. Mitchell, 64 years old, prom- Inent stock dealer, died at 12 o'clock noon yesterday at his home In Wal- nut Grove following a protracted Ill- ness.


He Is survived by his wife. four daughters, Mrs. Dean Tygart, Mrs. Buck Tygart and Mrs. Bernard Willey of Aldrich. Mo., and Mrs. J. Y. Dick- erson of Topeka, Kan .. and two sons A. R. Mitchell of Aldrich and Keltb Mitchell of the home address.


Funeral services will be beld at 11 o'clock this morning at the Pleasant Ridge church, serin miles north of Walnut Grove. Services at the para will be conducted by Aldrich podre" No. 004. A. F. and A. M. Burkal will be in the Pleasant Ridge ormetery under the direction of J. A. Brown and Sons of Walnut Grove.
