Two and a Half Year Old Baby Found in Stupor Near *Box of Tablets


After eating eight laxative tablets, with a sugar coating, Charles A. Tur- prin, 2 12 year old son of Mr. and Mra. F. J. Turpin, Living seven miles south of Republic, went into convul- sions and died last night.


The child was playing about the Turpin home about 8 oclock last night. His parents misked him a short time later, but thought he had gone to sicep' in another room.

They found him lying on the floor as if under the influence of. "dope." Near his side was a box of the tab- lets with eight missing. A physician was called from Willard, but the child dled before he arrived.

Operation Proves Fatal For Al- bert Cox, 70, Brother of Dr. Lee Cox


Albert Cox, 70, for many years a n.illing merchant here, but later of Denver, Colo., died yesterday after- noon at St. John's hospital .following an operation.


Mr. Cok is a brother of Dr. Lee Cox. and has a number of relatives in Springfield. He came to Springfield a fortnight ago for medical treatment following general breakdown of health.

A veteran physician and one who had practiced medicine among the Indian tribes of Oklahoma for . num- bet of years, Dr. Lmao Lunsford, 79. ' died Friday afternoon following a year's fight against the ravages of anemia. Dr. Lunsford came to Springfield in 1912. He had been practicing medicine here until he be- came bedfast in July. He died at his ' home. 74 Bouth Jefferson .. He wan 'a member of the Woodmen of the World, the Masonic lodge. South Ave- Que Christian church, the Greene County Medical society and the Mic- sourl Medical association. He le eur- vived by hta alle, two sons. W. Errett Lunsford at the home address and Robert B. Lunsford of Willard: two doughters, Miss Lena M. Lunsford at the home address and Mrs. Oscar "Kelly at Louisville. Ky., and by three alsters and two brothere. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon from South Avenue Christian church, with the Rever- ends J H. Jones and Benjamin 8mith officiating. Burial will be In Maple Park cemetery. The United lodge. A. F and A. M .. will be In charge of :Ites at the grave.

Joseph H. Cuebon, pioneer Ozarklan and Civil War veteran. died Wednes- : day afternoon at his home. 26 miles south of Springfield. following a lin- gering Liness. He is survived by bis wife. 11 children. 47 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Cuebon was a native of Illinois. com- ing from there to settle in Taney county in 1843. He was a member of the" Birth Missouri cavalry during therCivil War and s member of the Christian church. At the clone of the Civil War be married and moved to Stobe county, where be bed. lived since that time.
