Among the enterprises now in successful operation are brick and tile works, cement plants, a zinc smelter, glass factories, flour mills, oil refinery, planing mill, gas engine works, boiler works, ice plant, egg case factory, machine shops and manu- factories of brooms, torpedoes, drilling tools, lime, etc. There is a rich farm- ing and stock raising section tributary and large shipments of grain, live stock, broom corn, caster beans, hay and produce are made.
