Thomas Chatfield's being the 18th lot did take in or was drawn to his name-Thomas Chatfield. James Hand, Isaac and Benjamin Stretton, Tho. Osborne Jr., John Miller, George Miller.
By the surveying of said swamp it seemed to give 8} poles to one acre allotment, but in the measuring and staking out the several lots we were fain to pinch that reckoning consid- ably to give each man his equal proportion.
At said town meeting May the 15th it was ordered that the said 22 acres being taken off the first lot in the swamp divis- ion shall fall next adjoining to the north of said swamp.
It was farther ordered by major vote at said meeting that Beuj'm. Osborne, Thomas Mulford and Thomas Chatfield should lay out and stake to each man his right in said swamp

Book 4, page 66 .- Eeashampton April the 19th 1706.
A journal account of the Trustees acts and orders for the ensuing year. First. At their meeting April said 19th it was ordered that the westward line of fence should be re- paired on Wednesday next, each trustee to provide two men to that purpose.
First .- It was also then ordered that the stint rate or rate for general pasturing, be made out of hand according to the order in that respect, also some proposals concerning paying our quit rent, and did adjourn their meeting to May the first 5 o'clock in afternoon.
Marks, 21 .- John Hedges declareth his brand mark to be III set on the left shoulder for a flesh mark, and the like on the left horn for his mark above entered April the 24th 1706. Test THOMAS CHATFIELD, Town Clerk.
Marks, 21 .- William Schellinger declareth his flesh brand to be WS set on the left shoulder, entered April the 24 1706, and the like letters to be set on the left horn both which to be his brand marks for horse and neat cattle.

Book 4, page 66 .- At our legal meeting by warrant May the 6th 1706, it was then granted that Elizabeth Hand might be Improved to teach school in the Town house, so that she did quit said house to the Trustees to their demand.
It was then also ordered or granted that Will Wabiton might improve what timber he found lying upon the ground at the hither end of Mantaket if felled by the Indians and left.

It was then ordered that Cornelios Conkling and Thomas Chatfield should have the care of the general line fence in or- der to its repair if need be and drive out cattle if trespassing within the same for this year.
It was then ordered that Willm Schellinx, Daniell Osborne and Seth Parsons do have the care of the fatting pasture as to repairing the fence and clearing cattle from the same or any other thing of that nature for this year.
It was then ordered that James Diamon, Thomas Baker and Samll Dayton do have the oversight of the highways for to get them repaired as need shall require for this year, and did adjourn their meeting to the 21st of this Instant May, sun 2 hours high at night.
Book of marks, page 21 .- Captain Theophilus Howell of Bridge Hampton declareth his ear mark for all sorts of cattle to be from this day forward the end of the right ear cropped off and a slope under lhe left ear, having through mistake this year already marked eight calves with said mark and added thereto a half penny on the upper side of the right ear en- tered May the 9th, 1706.

Book 4, page 66 .- The Tanner warned out of Town May the 20th, 1706.
According to adjournment said Trustees met May the 21st and considered the let of the sheep, and did adjourn their meeting to the 28th of said May at 4 of clock in afternoon.
The Tanners wife warned out May the 23d 1706.
According to adjournment said Trustees did meet said 28th of May and did appoint Cornelios Conkling, Thomas Baker and Thomas Chatfield to provide and get the meeting house repaired and did consider and discourse about a Collector for

the stint rate. There having been several asked already on that respect did order, that Benj Osborne and Constable Ed- wards should be asked if they would accept of the trouble, and did adjourn their meeting to the 4th day of June at 4 of the clock in the afternoon.
According to adjournment said Trustees did meet and did agree that Nathll Talmage and Benjamen Osborne should see the staking out of the meadow joining to the Calf Pasture swamp on the lower end of it done at the request of Cornel- ios Conkling and Thomas Chatfield.
Also William Edwards was discoursed with to collect said rate, but refused, Daniell Osborne and Tho Baker was ap- pointed to desire Joseph Osborne to collect said rate, and the meeting adjourned to the 11th day instant 4 of clock in after- noon.
According to adjournment said Trustees did meet May the 11th and did order that who so would kill that Ill weed at Meantak should be allowed 1s 6d and did agree with Willm Schellinx and Onesimos Talmage to go to Mantaket and make water fence joining to the fatting pasture, and did at said meeting by major vote (being ten at said meeting) elect Ben- jamin Osborne to be collector of a rate whereby persons over- stock in common pasture are made debtors to those whose stock is short of their allowed right according to the Town order in that respect, and did also order and appoint Cornel- ios Conkling, Tho Baker and Tho Chatfield to sign said Col- lectors deputation, and did adjourn their meeting to the 19th of this instant at 5 of the clock in the afternoon.
The Tanner and wife warned to depart from the Town June the 18th by Cornelios Conkling.
According to adjournment said Trustees did meet June the 19th 1706, and did then order that Thomas Chatfield should pay out of the estate of John Bee, deceased, the sum of 5s 52d, the which appeared in right due to the said Hudson,

They also then ordered that the cattle should be put into their pasture on Tuesday next and that Willm Schellinx and Tho Chatfield should be there on that day and keep the ac- count as they go in, and did adjourn their meeting to the 26th of this instant June at 5 of the clock in the afternoon.
According to adjournment said Trustees did meet the 26th of June, where it was offered by the proprietors of the mea- dow lying within the Calf Pasture and neck to exchange the same for out.lands, but for want of a fuller meeting it was deferred to the next, and did adjourn their meeting to the 2d of July 1706 at 5 of the clock in afternoon.
According to adjournment said Trustees did meet on said 2d day of July and had farther debate concerning said change but by reason there was not a quorum besides said proprie- tors, it was deferred to the next meeting, and did adjourn their meeting to the 9th day of said July at 6 of the clock in afternoon.
Said meeting lost.
August the 18th 1706, then at a legal meeting of the Trus- tees of the Town of Easthampton they did adjourn their meet- ing to the 15th instant at 5 of clock in afternoon.
October the 11th then at our legal meeting was 4 men ap- pointed to put the fatting cattle into the Indian field; the matter being left so that if the Indians could not clear said field by the time agreed upon, those four men might defer the time some days at their discretion, and did adjourn their meeting to the 23d instant four o'clock in afternoon.
October the 14th day the great Sachem did desire the cat- tle should not be put into their Indian field till the 18 instant the which was consented to on condition that the Indians would bear with the Town herd to bide in said field three days beyond their appointed time to be turned out in the Spring. The Sachem agreed thereto in answer to this for- bearance.

According to adjournment said Trustees did meet said 2Sth day and did order that a rate should be levied on said running stock for the paying all the above said charge and also some arrears due to Will Wabiton it being uncertain how much, and did adjourn their meeting to the 13th day of March 1706- 7 at 4 of the clock in afternoon.

Book A, page 14 .- Be it known by these presents that whereas there was a brown horse belonging to me David Fithian of Easthampton in the County of Suffolk some time this last Spring sold by public outcry in the pound of East- hampton for which cause I saw good to cause Thomas Chat- field to be subpoenaed to answer me the said David Fithian in an action of trespass &c.
These presents may testify to all whom in may concern that I the said David Fithian do acknowledge to have fully received satisfaction to my content for the said horse sold as above said, and do for my self my heirs, executors and admin- istrators fully, freely and absolutely acquit and discharge the said Thomas Chatfield his heirs, executors and administrators and all other persons whatsoever from any actions or suits at law either entered upon or to be entered upon and also all debts, dues, reckoning or demands of what nature or kind so ever that hath or may at any time arise concerning the sale of said horse, I say I do acquit the said Thomas Chatfield his heirs, executors and administrators and all other persons as above said from the beginning of the world to the end of time as witness my hand and seal this 17th day of May 1706.

Between Issaac Stretton of Easthampton in the County of Suffolk upon the Island of Nassaw in the Colony of New York in America, Husbandman, of the one part, and Josiah Ed- wards of the same place and occupation of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said Isaac Stretton for and in considera- tion of the sum of fifteen pounds to him in hand paid by the said Josiah Edwards, hath granted and sold to him and his heirs forever one eighth part of a whole share of land and priv- ilege throughout Meantaket which is part that did formerly belong unto Richerd Stretton, deceased, and by him given unto the said Isaac Stretton as by his last will and testament doth appear,
To have and to hold the same forever and doth warrant to defend.

Between Nathaniel Bishop of the Town of Easthampton in the County of Suffolk upon the Island of Nassaw in the pro- vince of New York in America, Yeoman, of the one part, and David Conkling and Luis Conkling of the other party Wit- nesseth, that the said Nathaniell Bishop for and in considera- tion of the sum of Nineteen pounds and ten shillings to him in hand paid before the sealing hereof, hath granted and sold to the said David and Luis Conkling, and their heirs forever, six acres and a half Commonage in the Town plot of the said Easthampton, with all the issues, profits, divisions of land &c that shall hereafter accrue or shall be laid out unto the said six acres and half Commonage for the time to come : To have and to hold, the same forever, and doth warrant to defend.

Between Nathaniell Bishop of Easthampton in the County of Suffolk on the Island of Nassaw in the Colony of New- York in America, Yeoman, of the one part, and Daniell Saire of South Hampton in the County and Colony aforesaid, Weav- er, of the other part Witnesseth, That the said Nathaniell Bishop for and in consideration of the sum of Thirty and four pounds to him in hand paid, hath granted and sold unto the said Daniell Sayer and to his heirs forever, one quarter part of a whole share of the land Commonage and privilege at Mantake the said quarter of a share being one half of that half share that was given said Bishop by his father Nathaniel Bishop, deceased,
To have and to hold the same forever, and doth warrant to defend.
