Know all men by these presents that I, Henry Wick of Southampton, Yeoman, for and in consideration of the sum of fifty-four pounds ten shil- lings to me in hand paid by Elihu Howell of the same place, sadler, have granted and sold unto the said Elihu Howell and his heirs forever, one eighth part of one whole share through- out the whole land of Meantauk, that is, all the land and meadow between Napeag beach and the Eastermost extrem- ity of the Island. To have and to hold the same forever, and do warrant and defend.

Book E, page 62 .- At a Town Meeting, April the 4th. 1732, it was agreed on and voted by major vote that the Trustees shall not for the time to come exchange any land with any person or persons without the consent of the major part of the proprietors of this Town nor any wayes alienate any land without the consent of the proprietors as abovesaid.
On day last abovesaid it was agreed on by major vote of the proprietors of this Town that Eliphelet Stretten and Thomas Osborn Ju. are impowered to collect what each per- son hath signed to pay Mr. Hunting for preaching in the year 1730 and 1731.

1732, it was agreed on by major vote that James Hand, Ed- ward Jones, Samuel Parsons, Ju. and Elias Mulford are to put the fire out in the woods and to get help as the occasion may require and to be allowed reasonable wages for the same.
It was also agreed on by major vote on the day abovesaid that Lion Gardiner and John Hunting shall view all fences in and about this town where there is occasion for the same.
It was also agreed on by major vote on the day abovesaid that John Merry and Samuel Parsons shall geld all black rams that are found grazing at Meantauk or in the flock in the Town after the 20th day of August next.
It was also agreed on by major vote that Beriah Dayton Ju. may set up a shop to work in for the term of six years joining to the widow Penny's house lot.
Page 5 .- At a legal Town meeting holden in Easthampton, April the 4th, 1732, it was then agreed on by major vote of the proprietors and freeholders of Easthampton then assem- bled together that in case any horse kind be legally impound- ed from off of Meantauk at any time within the space of one year from the date last abovesaid and the owner or owners thereof cannot be found in forty-eight hours after their being impounded according to the Town order or no person will appear in that time and pay the poundage according to the Town order that then and in such case that then all horse kind so impounded may be sold at public out-cry, and after the poundage and charge of sale be deducted, the over plus to be returned to the owner if he can be found ; or if any person have notice given them of their horse or horse kind being impounded as abovesaid and will not appear and pay the poundage as aforesaid in forty-eight hours after notice given him or them may be sold in manner as aforesaid.

Page 72 .- At a legal meeting of proprietors of all undivid- ed land in the bounds of Easthampton, April the 19th, 1732, it was then agreed on by major vote of said proprietors that there shall be a division of land laid out in our bounds to say Aylewife brook Neck and Acabonick Neck and said division to begin at the bottom or northwest part of Acabonick Neck up a mile from Jeremiah Mulford's Spring Close southerly, and so across to the land of Robert More, Ju., by the Three Mile Harbor ; and also all the undivided land from the north- east or bottom of Aydewife Brook Neck half a mile home- ward of the parting of the paths and so running across to northwest path at the sandy hill where grassy hollow path turns out from northwest path ; and the land to the south- ward of the path below a line running from said sandy hill to the red springs at the head of Northwest meadow; and also Little Northwest Neck ; and also all the undivided land from Sag-Harbor homeward as far as the slough at the head of the long swamp and so across to the bound line on a west

or southwest line course provided that Capt. Burnet, Mr. Thomas Chatfield, John Davis, Jeremiah Mulford and Daniel Dayton or a majority of the said persons think it convenient that all the above mentioned tracts of land should be laid out in said division when they have viewed the same, but if upon view of same the majority of the above mentioned persons think that some part or parcel of the said tracts of land above mentioned is not such land as are proper to be laid out in said division then they are to leave the same out of the said division and not survey the same.
It was also agreed on by major vote of the proprietors of this town that were then assembled April the 19, 1732, that Capt. Matthias Burnet, Mr. Thomas Chatfield, John Davis, Jeremiah Mulford and Daniel Dayton be a committee to take care that said division of land is laid out and that a majority of them asserting to any lawful thing done by them shall be valid as if all the above mentioned persons agreed.
It was also agreed on by major vote of the proprietors then assembled together that if person or persons shall pre- sume to cut down any timber of the land abovesaid in the time of two years from the date abovesaid without liberty from the Trustees shall pay five shillings for each tree so cut down.

Book G, page 138 .- (Abstract)-Know all men by these presents that I, Ephraim Osborne of Easthampton, &c., Yeo- man, for divers good causes, and more especially for the sum of one hundred pounds by me in hand received of Josiah Os- born of the same place, Weaver, have granted and sold unto the said Josiah Osborn and to his heirs, one parcel of land at a place called Weinscot, containing about thirty acres more or less, bounded by James Hand alias Elias Hand Southwest, by the commons and land of Obadiah Osborn Northwest, by a pond Northeast, by the beach Southeast, To have and to hold the same forever, and do agree to give further deed if required.

Book E, page S .- The proprietors of Meantauk being le- gally warned and met together February the 27th 1732-3, and did then agree by major vote to leave the management of Meantauk for the term of one year to five men, namely, Mr. Thomas Chatfield, Jeremiah Mulford, Thomas Talmago, Aron Fithian and Samuel Hudson.
On the day abovesaid it was agreed on by major vote of the proprietors of Meantauk as followeth :
Impr. Agreed on by major vote that all horse kind that shall be found grazing on Meantauk for the time and term of one whole year from the date abovesaid not having right or not being duly entered or listed according to order of the committee abovesaid shall and are liable to be impounded, the owners of all such horse kind so impounded paying five shil- lings current money for each horse kind so impounded.
Agreed on by major vote that it shall be lawful to impound all neat cattle that shall be found grazing on Meantauk not having right for the same, at any time within the term of one year from the date abovesaid according as it shall be stinted, the owners of all such cattle so impounded paying five shil- lings for each neat beast so impounded.
Agreed on by major vote that it is and shall be lawful to impound all swine that shall be found grazing on Meantauk without liberty from the committee abovesaid at any time within the term of one year from the date abovesaid, the own- ers of all swine so impounded paying three shillings for each swine so impounded.
Agreed on by major vote that it is and shall be lawful to impound all sheep that shall be found grazing on Meantauk at any time within the term of one year from the date above-

said not having right for the same according to the stint, the owners paying six pence for each sheep so impounded.
Agreed on by major vote to pay the same penalty for im- pounding each horse kind, neat beast, sheep and swine that shall be found grazing in the fatting field or sheep pasture not having right for the same and or without liberty from the com- mittee abovesaid, and two shillings for impounding each weaned calf out of the fatting field, and the same penalty for impounding each neat beast or weaned calf not being duly entered according to the order of the committee abovesaid.
Agreed on by major vote that the fence at the hither end of Meantauk to begin at common high water at the South sea and so to run across to the North side, said fence to be three feet and ten inches high from the South sea to the North side and to run into the North sea or sound until the water is three feet deep at the end of said fence shall be and accounted a lawful fence for the time and term of one whole year from the date abovesaid.
Book E, page 83 .- Agreed on by major vote that the fence that is near Clabord hill to run from the clift or bank on the south side to be 4 feet high from said clift to the north side or Sound and to run into said Sound until the water is 2 feet deep at the end of said fence, shall be a law- ful fence.
Agreed on by major vote that the fatting field fence shall begin at high water mark at the south sea and continue four feet high to the other end of the same to be a lawful fence.
Agreed on by major vote that all small stallions running at or on Meantauk having two winters past over them are liable to be gelt by the 25th day of April after the date abovesaid the owners of all such horses paying according to the Act of Assembly made and provided for that intent : agreed on by major vote that four weaned calves shall be equal to one

beast in the fatting field ; agreed on by major vote that no person or persons shall cut down or any ways destroy or carry off any timber or any fencing stuff on or off Meantauk for the time of one whole year from the date abovesaid on the penalty of paying for the same according to the Act of Assembly made and provided on that respect without liberty from the committee.
Agreed on by major vote that if any horse kind neat cat- tle, sheep or swine be found grazing in the Indian field ex- cepting the Indians own creatures not exceeding their liberty may be impounded the owners of all such horse kind, neat cattle paying five shillings for each horse or neat beast so impounded, and three shillings for each swine and six pence for each sheep so impounded such creatures shall be only excepted having liberty from the committee.
Agreed on by major vote that the committee may sue such trespassers as have their creatures as abovesaid in or upon the said land as abovesaid without right or liberty if not im- pounded.
Agreed on by major vote that if any horse kind be legally impounded off of Meantauk at any time within the term of one whole year from the date first above written and the owner or owners thereof cannot be found in forty-eight hours after their being impounded may be sold at a public out-cry. If no person will appear in that time and pay the poundage to say five shillings for each horse that in such case all such horse kind so impounded may be sold at a public out cry and after the poundage and charge of sale be deducted the overplus to be returned to the owner if he can be found or if any person have notice given him or them of their horse or horses being impounded and will not appear and pay the poundage as abovesaid in forty-eight hours after notice is given him or them may be sold in manner as abovesaid.

committee abovesaid shall do and act concerning Meantauk shall be deemed and esteemed as effectual as if the whole had done the same provided it be done and executed within the time abovesaid.
Agreed on by major vote that seventy-six neat cattle shall be the whole and full number to go on one whole share on Meantauk for this year, 1733.
Samuel Parsons Ju. doth protest against the vote for the fetching of the horses from Meantauk on the 25th day of December next which will be in the year 1734.

Book A, page 262 .- (Abstract.) Know all men that I, David Conkling of Easthampton &c., Yeoman, have for the considerations herein expressed, granted and sold to Elias Mulford of the same place, Yeoman, and to his heirs forever, half one acre of land more or less as it is now fenced and now in the possession of the said Elias Mulford, at a place called Amaganset woods, bounded by the land of the said Elias Mulford southeast, and my own land northwest, it being a gore of land about five rods wide at the east end and nothing at the other end, the said land joining to said Mul- ford's land near where his apple trees now grow. Now know all men by these presents that I the said Elias Mulford in consideration for the above land do firmly bind myself and my heirs forever hereafter to keep up and maintain a good and sufficient fence throughout the whole line that is between my said land abovesaid, and the land of said David Conkling, and also all the fence that doth belong to the said David Conkling between the said David Conkling's land and Thomas Osborn's land lying at or near the same place.

Hampton being convened together by warrant from a Justice of his Majesty's Peace and did agree that Thomas Osborn should go and view the meeting house glass and tell Tim Mulford which should be mended and to agree with Jerm Hedges to part some of the casements, and did adjourn the meeting to the 15th of October 1733.

Loose Leaf 23 .- Trustees met according to adjournment and did agree by major vote to change a piece of land with John Parsons lying at Long Hollow as we go to Accobonac and the said John is to take as much in Acabonick joining to his meadow and did agree that Daniel Baker and Nathan Miller should go and lay it out for him said Parsons.
Agreed to have those two loads of stone that Lett Baker and John Edwards carted to the Town House and to allow them ten shillings per load. And did agree that Daniel Ba- ker and Thomas Osborn and Jacob Schellenger should lay the hearth.
And did agree that Jonathan Baker and Isaac Barns should go to John Davis and get the lease and bond that he had for the Town House and go to Timothy Hudson and get a deed for said house, and did adjourn the meeting to the 15th of January 1733-4.
