Book 4, page 2 .- Then at a legal meeting of the proprie- tors it was agreed on and granted by major vote, that all those persons that have no right or title in this Town Com- mons, shall have liberty to cut dry wood for firing for the space of one whole year, he or they paying one penny for each load and also that all persons having right and not suffic- ient for their use shall cut and pay as abovesaid all to the use of the proprietors of this Town and also that the Trustees shall and have full power to order and stent what number of

EASTHAMPTON April the 19th 1715.


Book 4, page 32 .- Then at a meeting of the proprietors of this Town being legally convened together, did then agree by major vote that the sheep flock belonging to this Town shall be brought from Meantauk and put into Alewife Brook Neck, and also that by said vote do oblige themselves to leave the whole matter on all accounts concerning said sheep flock to be wholly ordered and performed by Capt. John Wheler, James Hand, John Hedges, William Schellinx and Isaac Hedges and what the said men shall do or order as concerning the fencing or stenting the said neck the proprie- tors do oblige themselves to sit down satisfied and contented with the same.


Also that the whole matter concerning what fencing stuff and fire wood each person shall cut on one acre Commonage shall be wholly left to the aforesaid five men. Also that no person or persons shall cut down or destroy any tree or trees on the Commons before the said men have regulated the same, without liberty from the Trustees.


EASTHAMPTON April the 19th 1715.


Book 4, page 34 .- Then at a meeting of the proprietors it was agreed by major vote that the whole matter concerning the cutting and clearing the highways to the meadows shall and is wholly left to the Trustees to order the same.


And also it was agreed by major vote as abovesaid that the Trustees of this Town shall have full power to order and regulate what number of cattle shall go or feed on this Town's Common for the space of one whole year from the date abovesaid.

Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Edwards of Easthampton &c., Yeo- man, being grand-son and heir-apparent to William Edwards, formerly of Easthampton, deceased, do for myself and my heirs forever quit all manner of claim unto all the land and commonage within the said Easthampton, with a quarter part of a whole share at Meantauk that was my uncle Thomas Edwards', in his will given unto my cousin Daniel Edwards of Easthampton. Namely : Six acres and two thirds of one acre of commonage the abovesaid quarter part of one whole share throughout Meantauk, Twelve acres more or less in the Town lying between Mr. Nathaniel Hunting and Jeremiah Conkling butting to the main street of said Town to the Westward; Six acres at Newtown lying between the land of Capt. Book G, page 100 .- (Abstract)-Be it known unto all men to whom these presents shall come, that I Onesimus Talmage of Easthampton, &c., Yeoman, for and in considera- tion of the sum of Twenty-seven pounds to me in hand paid by Benjamine Stretton of the same place, Husbandman, have bargained and sold unto the said Benjamin Stretton a certain parcel of land in Easthampton containing by estimation six acres more or less, bounded to the Eastward by the land of Thomas Chatfield and by the land of the said Onesimus Tal- mage to the Westward, and by the land of Nathaniel Tal- mage to the Northward, and to the Southward by the high- way, To have and to hold the same forever, and doth warrant to defend.

Book A, page 342 .- Whereas my honored father George Miller formerly of Easthampton did formerly exchange into the hands and possession of John Osborne of the said East- hampton a certain parcel of meadow ground lying at the Eastward end of Hock pond as it was laid out to the prede- cessors of the said George Miller, for and in consideration of certain parcels of meadow ground that my said father had of the said John Osborne at a place commonly called Hand's Creek, and so along Easterly from said Creek as it was grant- ed by the Town of Easthampton to the said John Osborne and entered in the records to the said John Osborne.


Now know ye that I John Miller son and heir to the afore- said George Miller, do now by these presents for myself, my heirs and assigns, ratify and confirm unto Thomas Osborne his heirs and assigns, the eldest son and heir of the aforesaid John Osborne, all the abovesaid meadow ground at Hock pond as abovesaid with all other lands that the said John Osborne died possessed of that was formerly laid out to my said father.


And furthermore I the said John Miller do now by these presents quit all manner of claim or title from me, my heirs and assigns forever ; from all persons that shall lay claim to the same by, from or under me the said John Miller.


This above written is a true record of the above exchange and confirmation as by the abovesaid John Miller therein mentioned, acknowledged September 29, 1715.

Eastwardly from said Creek as it was granted by the Town of Easthampton to my said father and entered in Easthamp- ton book of records as may appear for and in consideration of a certain parcel of meadow ground that my said father had of the abovesaid George Miller at a place called Hock pond, the said meadow lying at the Eastward end of Hock pond as it was laid out formerly to the predecessors of the said George Miller. Now know ye that I Thomas Osborne of Easthamp- ton son and heir to the said John Osborne do now by these presents for myself, my heirs and assigns ratify and confirm unto John Miller of Easthampton and to his heirs and assigns forever, the eldest son and heir of the abovesaid George Mil- ler, to say, all the meadow ground at or Eastwardly from the place commonly called Hand's Creek as it was granted by the Town of Easthampton to my said father John Osborne, with ali other land and meadows that the said George Miller died possessed of that were formerly laid out to my said father John Osborne, and furthermore I the said Thomas Osborne do for myself, my heirs and assigns warrant to defend the said John Miller, his heirs and assigns, in the quiet possession of the abovesaid from all manner of persons that shall lay claim to the same by, from or under me the said Thomas Osborne.

the Freeholders and inhabitants of this Town, that a new meeting house shall be built in this Town as soon as may be with conveniency.


And it was also agreed on by major vote of the Freeholders and inhabitants of this Town being legally met together on the day abovesaid that the meeting house which is now to be built shall be set up and stand on or near the place where the meeting house now stands.


Also it was agreed on by major vote as abovesaid that the whole management of building and providing for the building said house on all accounts whatsoever shall be and is left to the discretion of five men, namely, Mr. John Mulford, Mr. Robert Hudson, Capt. Matthias Burnet, Thomas Mulford and John Hedges, and whatsoever the said five men or the major part of them shall do or perform in order to the building of said meeting house as abovesaid, the proprietors and inhabi- tant being legally convened as abovesaid, do oblige them- selves by virtue of said major vote, to pay and allow their several proportions of all charges and expenses that shall now or hereafter be raised or levied on each of them according as they and each of them are assessed for the paying of any other rate or tax.


The abovesaid was voted as abovesaid, none opposing the same, but two men, namely. Capt. Wheler and Jeremiah Conkling.


The above is a true record of the actions in the Town meeting on the day abovesaid.

To Cornelius Conkling two acres, Jeremiah Miller two acres, Richard Shaw's allotment two acres, William Hedges three quarters of one acre and Ananias Conkling one acre. To say, all the land within the said fence as it is now fenced in proportion to each man as abovesaid.


Secondly. Five acres of upland and swamp be the same more or less, laid out to Cornelius Conkling in Ammaganset woods to the Northward of the Eastermost Brick-kills bound- ed by the path or highway Southeasterly that leads down from said Brick-kills to Ammaganset pond and Southwesterly by common land and Northwestwardly by the upland and swamp that was laid out to Capt. Matthias Burnet and North- easterly by the pond commonly called Ammaganset pond, all the upland and swamp land from the said Southwesterly line to the said pond, part of said upland being a hommick of land lying between some part of the swamp and the said pond.
