Also ordered by major vote of said proprietors that the sheep flock shall be put to Meantauk until the first of May . next, ten sheep to be in the stent equivalent to one next beast.

Book A, page 1002 .- Then at a Town meeting it being our election day it was agreed by major vote of the proprie- tors of this Town that William Schellinx shall have liberty to take up six acres of land in Amaganset woods joining to Mr. Nathaniel Baker's close at the Brick-kills, on the condi- tion that the said Schellinx do lay down six acres of land to the Town for their use in Aylewife Brook Neck the said land being laid out to Mr. Baker by order of the said Schel- linx, by Capt. Wheler and Benjamin Osborne who was or -- dered by the Town to do the same.

Be it known unto all Christian people to whom these presents shall come that I, John Daviss of Easthampton &c, Yeoman, for and in consid- eration of the sum of twenty pounds to me in hand paid by Enos Talmage of the same place, Yeoman, have bargained and sold unto the said Enos Talmage and his heirs forever, one certain piece or parcel of land containing six acres more or less, bounded by the land of Shuball Talmage to the East- ward and by the land of Matthias Burnet to the Westward, and by the Town's common land to the Northward, and by a highway to the Southward, To have and to hold the same forever, and doth warrant to defend.

Book G, page 70 .- (Abstract)-Know all men by these presents that I, John Edwards of Easthampton &c., Yeoman, have for and in consideration of a valuable sum of money to me in hand paid by Thomas Edwards of the same place, Yeo- man, granted and sold nnto the said Thomas Edwards and his heirs forever, to say, one acre and one third part of one acre of commonage throughout this Town commons Westward of Meantauk, it being part of the allotment that did belong to my honored father John Edwards ; and doth agree to give further deed if required.

Book G, page 115 .- (Abstract)-Know all men by these presents that I, Daniel Sayre of Southampton &c., Yeoman, for and in consideration of the sum of sixty pounds to me in hand paid by John Evans of Easthampton, Yeoman, have granted nnd sold unto said John Evans and his heirs forever, a certain parcel of land situate at a place commonly known by the name of Wainscot, and is by estimation twenty-six acres, more or less, one part of it is bounded by said John Evans, his land, on the South, and Westward by the highway, North by Parks, his land, and East by the Town's land ; the other lot is bounded South by John Hopin's land, East by the Town's land, all which said land above expressed, together . with a house and fence upon the same, To have and to hold the same forever, and doth warrant to defend.

Book 4, page 124 .- At our election meeting April 1, 1718 It was then agreed on and voted by the major part of the Freeholders then legally assembled together that the whole management and finishing of the new meeting house in this Town shall be and is left to the Trustees for this present year, and what the said Trustees shall do or perform in that matter, the Freeholders and inhabitants of this Town do oblige themselves to perform.
And it was also agreed on by major vote as abovesaid, that the whole management of Meantauk on all accounts whatso- ever is and shall be left to the discretion of the Trustees of this Town for this present year.
Also it was agreed on by major vote as aforesaid, that Benjamin Osborn, Samuel Dayton, and Cornelius Conkling shall regulate and lay out all highways in this Town as they may find damnified by reason of persons fencing or ditching in or on any highways or by any other means, and also to view all fences in and about this Town.
And also that the Trustees shall regulate and order how many sheep shall be put on Meantauk in the room of one neat beast for this year.
Also ordered by major vote as abovesaid that all horses and horse kind shall be brought off from Meantauk on or before the first day of January next after the date first above written, and so to be kept off until the first of March, on penalty of

Book 4, page 125 .- John Merry of Easthampton did in said Town meeting openly protest and declare that he would not lay himself down to the vote concerning the bringing of the horses from Meantauk, and did protest against it as en- tered on the next page.

Book 4, page 20 .- Easthampton, April the 1st, 1718, it being our election day it was agreed on by major vote of the proprietors then assembled that Rachell Hayes shall have the liberty to make use of one quarter of one acre of land during her natural life, for to set a house on, and that Mr. John Mulford and John Davis are appointed and ordered to nomi - nate and appoint where she shall take the same.

Book 4, page 4 .- It was then agreed on by major vote of the Trustees of this Town that the commons in and about this Town Westward of Meantauk shall be stinted for one whole year from the date abovesaid, and that two neat cattle shall be the full number to go on one acre commonage, on the penalty of paying nine pence for each beast that shall be . pounded over and above the said number after the tenth day of May next after the date abovesaid, and if any person or

persons shall hire any right or privilege of any person to put cattle on as abovesaid, he or they shall give an account to the pounder, viz : Richard Shaw, who is to have a list of each man's right in commons, and that no person shall hire out any right in said commons to any persons belonging to any other Town on the penalty of paying according to an order made by the Town for the preventing of the same. Book 4, page 142 .- At a legal meeting of the Freeholders and Commonalty of the Town of Easthampton, May the 6th 1718, did then order by major vote that Hezekiah Miller's yard at Wainscot shall be a public pound to impound all trespassers that shall be found Westward of the Tan Creek to the bound line, for the space of one whole year from the date abovesaid.

Book 4, page 28 .- Part of the land bounded as you may see under written, was formerly laid out to the allotment of Thomas Osborne, now in the possession of Joseph Osborne Jr., and part thereof he purchased of William Mulford and part of it he had of the Town in exchange for land as you may see.
The Trustees of the Freeholders and Commonalty of the Town of Easthampton, being legally met together May the 23, 1718, and did then agree by major vote to exchange a parcel of land with Joseph Osborne Jr. his land lying in Georgica second neck, for land in the first neck of Georgica, and did order that Mr. John Mulford and Cornelius Conkling shall lay out the said land to the said Joseph Osborn.

Book 4, page 154 .- At a legal Town meeting April the 7th 1719, It was then agreed on and voted by major vote of the proprietors of Meantauk that the sheep flock shall be put on said land this year ensuing, and that the Trustees have full power to order the said sheep flock to be kept there as above- said according to their discretion either by hiring keepers or settling of a man or two for a certain term of years as they shall see cause and also that the Trustees have full power to order all other affairs relating to Meantauk for the space of one whole year from the date abovesaid.
It was also ordered by major vote of the proprietors of Meantauk on the day abovesaid. that if any dog or dogs shall be seen or found on Meantauk within one whole year from the date abovesaid at any time or times, the owner or owners of all such dog or dogs shall pay the sum of five shillings cur-
