Book 4, page 10 .- At a legal meeting of the proprietors of Meantauk in Easthampton February the 15th 1726-7, did then agree by major vote of said proprietors, to leave the whole management of Meantauk for the term of one whole year ensuing, to a committee of five men, namely, Matthew Mulford, Mr. Tho Chatfield, John Davis, John Merry and Capt. Samuel Gardiner.
On the day last above written Cornelius Conkling was chosen by major vote of said proprietors of Meantauk to enter all orders in the Town book that the abovesaid committee shall make for the improving and regulating of the whole land of Meantauk for the term of one year.

Book 4, page 106 .- At a legal Town meeting holden in Easthampton April the 4th, 1727, it was then agreed on by major vote of the proprietors then met together, that the owners of Napeag meadows shall and may have liberty to set up a fence across Napeg beach from North to South side wa- ters for the preservation of their meadows, the fence to be three feet and ten inches high, always provided the said own- ers do keep and maintain a good swinging gate, and not to shut it up before the first day of May yearly, and to lay the said meadow and beach open by the 15th day of September

yearly, and that all cattle and horse kind that shall be put in to the Eastward of said fence, or get in at any time while the fence is kept up as aforesaid, shall be liable to be pounded at nine pence per head for all horse kind and neat cattle that shall be found to the Eastward of said fence ranging.
Book G, page 132 .- (Abstract.)-Be it know unto all peo- ple to whom these presents shall come that I, Daniel Miller, of Easthampton, &c., Yeoman, for and in consideration of the sum of five pounds to me in hand paid by Josiah Osborne of the same place, Weaver, have sold unto the said Josiah Osborne, and to his heirs forever, one certain piece or parcel of land containing by estimation five acres more or less, ad- joining to the land that did formerly belong to Onesimus Tal- mage, deceased, and bounded by a creek called Osborn's Creek to the Eastward, To have to hold the same forever, and do warrant to defend.

Book A, page 48 .- Trustees of the Freeholders and Com- monalty of the Town of Easthampton being legally convened and met together February the 13th 1727-8, on the request of Cornelius Conkling to exchange four acres and half of land with him, did then agree by major vote to exchange the same with him and accordingly the said Conkling doth lay down and resign up to the proprietors of this Town commons for- ever, four acres and one half of land lying and being in the bounds of Easthampton at a place called Aylewife Brook Neck, bounded by the land of Samuell Mulford Southwesterly, by the land that was laid out to Benjamin Osborne North- easterly, and by Norwest bay Northwesterly, and by common land Southeasterly, all the abovesaid four acres and half of land more or less the said Cornelius Conkling doth for him-

self, his heirs and administrators quit all manner of claim, right, title and propriety that he hath or ever had to the same, to the use, benefit and improvement of the proprietors of this Town's commons forever.
For and in consideration of the said Cornelius Conkling's delivering up and laying down the said four acres and half of land as abovesaid to the proprietors of this Town's commons, the Trustees of the Freeholders and Commonalty of the Town of Easthampton on the day above written, did agree by ma- jor vote to lay out four acres and half of land to the said Cor- nelius Conkling in Acabonick Neck, and for the effecting of the same, did then agree by major vote that Samuel Dayton and Benjamin Osborne shall measure and lay out the land to the said Cornelius Conkling, and according to said vote the said Samuel Dayton and Benjamin Osborne did lay out the same, be it more or less, bounded by the land of Benjamin Osborne Northeasterly, and by the land formerly laid out to the said Conkling Southeasterly, and by the path or common land Northwesterly and Southwest. The said land to belong to the said Cornelius Conkling and to his heirs and assigns forever, he, the said Conkling his heirs and assigns allowing all persons that have meadow within or adjoining to his land at all times hereafter, to go through said land to cut, cart and secure their hay and grass.
The above written is a true record of the Trustees' vote and exchange made between the Trustees and Cornelius Conkling as above written, as attest

and in consideration of the sum of fourteen pounds to us in hand paid, by Josiah Osborne of Easthampton, &c. Yeoman, have sold unto the said Josiah Osborne and to his heirs for- ever, one half of a neck of land as it is now fenced, except five acres, which the said Osborne has already bought of Dan- iel Miller, at a place called Georgeca, bounded to the East- ward by a creek known by the name of Osborn's creek, to the Southward by Georgeca pond, to the Westward by a creek called the Wading creek, to the Northward by said Town commons, To have and to hold the same forever, and do war- rant to defend.
In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 14th day of February, 1727-8.

Book 4, page 13 .- At a legal meeting of the proprietors of Meantauk, February the 21st 1727-8. it was then agreed up- on by major vote of said proprietors that Meantauk shall be managed on all accounts by a committee of five men for one whole year ensuing, and for the effecting of the same, did by major vote nominate and choose Eleazer Miller, Mr. Thomas Chatfield, John Davis, Matthew Mulford, and John Merry to perform the same.
On the day last abovesaid it was agreed on by major vote

of the proprietors of Meantauk that no sheep shall go or be put on Meantauk Eastward of the Fort Pond until the run- ning stock of cattle are put into the field or fields in the fall of the year, and then to have a keeper to prevent them from going Eastward of the ditch or into either of said fields, and that eighty neat cattle are allowed to go on one whole share.
And it was also agreed on by major vote of the proprietors abovesaid that the committee abovesaid have full power and authority to agree and settle a man at the hither end of Mean- tauk for the time and term of four or five years from the date last abovesaid, always provided the man so put on be oule that never was put on before this time by any former Trus- tees or committee.
NOTE .- Several pages of matter are now introduced with- out date, but seem to come properly about this time.

For and in consideration of the same, the Trustees of this Town for and in behalf of themselves and the proprietors of this Town commons have laid out and staked the same quan- tity of land to the abovesaid Aron Fithian forever in Acabon- ick Neck joining to his own land, the above exchange to con .. tinue to each of their heirs and assigns forever.

I, Benjamin Osborne of Easthampton in the County of Suf- folk and Province of New York, Yeoman, have assigned, or- dained and made and in my stead and place have put and constituted my trusty and well beloved friend William Hed- ges Jur. of the Town, County and Province abovesaid to be my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name, and to my use to sell, alien, convey and confirm unto any person or persons whatsoever, all my housing, lands, tenements and edi- fices in or about the Town of Easthampton, and to make such deeds and conveyances as may be needful for the same, and to sign, seal and deliver such deed or deeds as fully, amp- ly as I myself could do as if I were personally present, ratify- ing, allowing and holding firm and stable all and whatsoever my said attorney shall lawfully do in or about the premises by virtue of these presents.
In witness whereof I the said Benjamin Osborne have here- unto set my hand and fixed my seal
Book A, page 172 .- Whereas there was a grant of all the meadow at the end and on the North side of Hook Pond made by this Town to several persons in this Town, and Stephen Hedges being one of the men to whom the said meadow was granted to as by the said record may more fully appear, and whereas the said Stephen Hedges hath made conveyance of his part and proportion of said meadow to his son William Hedges of this Town, by a deed under his hand and seal ;
Now know all men by these presents that I the said Wil- liam Hedges do for my self, my heirs forever quit claim and wholly resign up all my right, title and interest that I have in and unto the meadow abovesaid to the proprietors of this Town, and to their successors forever, on the conditions herein or hereafter to be expressed, to say, all the meadow that now is in the possession of Mr Nathaniel Hunting by an

agreement between this Town and the said Mr. Hunting.
For and in consideration of the abovesaid William Hedges' resignation of the meadows abovesaid to the proprietors of this Town, now we whose names are hereunto subscribed being impowered and authorized by an act of General Assem- sembly of this Colony to regulate lay out and stop up high- ways within the Township of Easthampton, and whereas it hath been said by some persons in this Town that there was a highway left of two rods wide joining to the land of Richard Shaw and John Parsons to the Southwest, and by the land that was laid to Nathaniel Bishop to the Northeast, but now in the possession of William Hedges, which land lieth East- ward from the Town within the old general line of fence and was laid out in the fifth division of land that was laid out in this Town, and we finding that there is no occasion or need of a highways in that place do wholly stop up and wholly de- bar all persons whatsoever forever hereafter going or passing through or on the same, and do for and in consideration of the said William Hedges' resignation of the meadow to the proprietors as abovesaid, do for ourselves and the proprietors of this Town, do allow and grant the said highway to Wil- liam Hedges and to his heirs forever, to be bounded by the land of Samuel Parsons and Recompenc Sherry to the South- west, they being the present possessors of the land to the Southwest.

Book A, page 1582 .- Whereas there was an Act of Gen- eral Assembly of this Colony made in the tenth year of his Majesties Reign Anno qi'd 1724 entitled an act to regulate and lay out highways within the County of Suffolk, and for

the effecting of the same in the Town of Easthampton, Cor- nelius Conkling, Capt. Matthias Burnet and Thomas Chatfield Esq. was impowered as Commissioners to regulate and lay out public highways within said Township.
Therefore we the said persons have laid out one highway four rods wide to Acabonick landing place to begin at Lilly Hill, and so to continue said breadth to Seth Parsons' meadow and so to continue four rods wide without the fence as it now stands to the corner of Lewis Conkling's fence as it now stands, and so to run down to said landing place or water, to say, all the land lying within said fence not laid out to any particular person or persons to the Southeast, East or North- east of said fence down to the meadows to lie as abovesaid for a highway forever.
And also one highway laid out of four rods wide beginning at the West corner of the abovesaid Seth Parsons' meadow or swamp and so to continue the said breadth joining to the meadow or land laid out to particular persons, and so running Easterly and Northeasterly to a Beach commonly known by the name of Acabonick East Beach to lie and remain as above said for a highway forever.
(Further Land and Indian Well.)-And also one highway laid out in the Eastern plain consisting of two rods wide, begin- ning at the South or Southwesterly corner of William Hedges' great close and so to continue Northeasterly as it now runs to the corner of the land formerly laid out to Thomas Bee, Capt. Sam Gardiner's land lying Southeast or opposite from said corner, and to continue from said corner Northeasterly a highway of eight rods wide to the corner of Jacob Schellinx close, formerly laid out to John Miller, Thomas Barns' house lot lying Southeasterly from said corner.
And also one highway laid out consisting of six rods wide, beginning between Samuel Mulford's house lot and Jacob Schellinx close, running Southeasterly down Indian Well Hol-

Book A, page 158 .- (Hither Lane.) - And also one high- way laid out in the Eastern plain consisting of two rods wide, bounded by the land of William Hedges Southeast, and the land of Samuel Hedges Northwest, and so to run as it now runs to the corner of Isaac Hedges' close formerly laid out to John Miller, and so to run down into two Mile Hollow as it is now fenced down to the Southeastorly highway that runs through the plains, the same to lie and remain a highway for- ever.

Book A, page 134 .- One highway laid out beginning at ye head of three mile harbor and continuing on the East side of the harbor to the mouth of said harbor consisting of four rods in breadth from the fenced land and meadow as it is now fenced ; and one highway consisting of two rods wide turn- ing out of the abovesaid highway through the land of Robert More down to the harbor to a place called Maskils landing

place turning out of the highway abovesaid about nine rods Northeastward from the South corner of the said More's land as it is now fenced, the said Robert More fencing in the said highway on the conditions that he his heirs and assigns do keep and maintain a pair of bars at the entering in to his land he nor they any ways hindering or stopping any person in their passing or repassing on the said highway they may have occasion to go, ride or cart on the said highway forever.
And one highway laid out turning out of the highway first written down to the harbor consisting of four rods wide run- ning through a parcel of common land laying between the land of Samuel Hudson and the land of John Parsons, he the said Parsons keeping a pair of bars or a gate down by the har- bor so that persons may pass and repass down to the water forever after as they may have occasion.
