Whereas, William Ed- wards, deceased, did, in his last will and testament give and bequeath anto William Edwards, the son of his son, John Edwards, fifteen acres of land lying at Amagansett, and now bounded with the land of Nathaniel Baker on the northeast side and on the northwest end, and with the town's high- ways upon the other side and end, and a piece of meadow at Napeage bounded with the meadow of Mr. John Mulford to the south, and northward with several other parcels of land ; all with this condition, that if he, the said William Edwards, should die without issue, then the said parcels of land and meadow should fall to Ephraim Edwards and to his heirs. Now know all men by these presents that I, Ephraim Ed- wards, of East-Hampton, do for myself and my heirs, fully and absolutely release and acquit whatever right, title or in- terest I may have or seem to have in the said parcel of land and meadow by the aforesaid will, as attest my hand and seal set to this twelfth day of October, 1701.

Book A, page 61 .- Mr. Benjamin Conkling, of East- Hampton, in the county of Suffolk, of the province of New - York, have and do by these presents, acknowledged to have exchanged a certain parcel of land that fell to him by a sixth division of land unto Nathaniel Talmage, and unto his heirs and assignes forever, it being in the whole ten acres, be it more or less, lying at or near Wainscott, as it is entered upon Record, in page 62, he the said Nathaniel, his heirs or as- signs to possess and enjoy the said ten acres of land as it is there butted and bounded forever. Book A, page 333 .- Mr. Benjamin Conkling, of East- Hampton, declareth that he hath exchanged to Enoch Fithian, of said East-Hampton, the full quantity of seven acres of land lying on the Indian well plain, the same being bounded to the eastward by land yet in the possession of said Conk- ling, which he had by exchange from Nathaniel Talmage, and to the west by Stephen Hedges' land, and to the north and south by highways. In consideration for the above seven acres of land, the said Lieut. Enoch Fithian declareth he hath exchanged to the above said Mr. Benjamin Conkling the quantity of seven acres of land on said Indian well plain, bounded to the westward by the land that was laid out to Joshua Garlick, senior, and Richard Stretton, and to consist of full seven poles in breadth eastward, and bounded north and south by highways; which said exchanges of land so to continue to each of them and their heirs and assigns forever. At said Town Meeting, April 7th, it was ordered by a major vote that the trustees should compound with Jeremiah Conkling, jr., about a piece of land that lies in Amagansett woods, convenient to his enclosure, and as they settle the same to him, so to remain from the town to him and his assigns forever. At said Town Meeting, April 7th, it was granted by a major vote, that Shamgar Barnes should have laid out to him by the trustees, a garden spot of land at some convenient place upon the common, the same to be to his use and his wife's during their natural lives, or the life of either of them, but upon both their decease, the said land to return to the town again.
