Tried and dis- posed of well-known Mecartney litigation, win- ning for the city (cases pending for 17 years) ; also won in defense of the city in federal courts the case of the Burlington Savings Bank vs. City of Chicago and Town of Cicero; the ques- tion of liability of the City of Chicago being for defaulted Cicero local improvement bonds, the city having annexed a part of Cicero (Aus- tin) subsequent to issuance of said bonds.
