In the will of Abner Brown made 19 May 1790, recorded in North- ampton, he leaves to his "son, Thomas Brown". A Thomas Brown m. in Brookfield, 7 Feb. 1765, Judith Gilbert. Apparently Thomas lived in Goshen and died before 15 Nov. 1801, when Mrs. Judith Brown of Goshen m. in Brookfield, Dea. Joseph Cutler, whose first wife was Martha Brown (No. 5).

18. REV. EBENEZER BROWN and his wife, Elizabeth, came from Springfield between 1772 and 1778. They were admitted to the Congregational Church, 25 Feb. 1781. He was a Meth- odist minister but there is no record that he preached here.

Later he held Methodist pulpits in Stowe, Vt., and elsewhere. He was once sent to New Orleans to "convert the Catholics". He returned north in 1821 and with George Jones of Poultney, Vt., founded the firm of Brown & Co., originators of detachable collars for men. He later moved to N. Y. City.
