He was sometimes called Stephens Cole. There is no record in Chesterfield of the birth of any of their children but the tax lists show him to be a resident here as late as 1797. According to church records of LaFayette, N. Y., it would seem that the family removed to that place. The list of children and death records of Joseph Stephens and Sarah, are from a copy of a Family Bible, published in the New Eng. Genealogical Register of Oct. 1952. Children:
