1901 Street Railway Conditions.
The conditions upon which the Seledmen &Boford will allow the Lawrence, Ipswich & Groveland Street Railway Company to locate and put the overhead system in the town of Boxford are as follows ;-
Ordered, that permission is hereby granted to the Lawrence Ipswich & Groveland Street- Railway Company to establish, construct, maintain and use the overhead single trolly electric system of motive power, so called, in the operation of its cars in and upon the following streets in the town of Boxford , to-wit ;-
Beginning at the division line between the towns of North Andover and Bokford on land owned by Charles A. Andrews: thence through said land of Andrews to Washington St .: thence through Washington Street on the South side to Haverhill street, thence through Haverhill Street on the West side to a point at or near Fowler's Pond on land of the Trustees of the Banker Free School, thence through said land of the Trustees of the Banker Free School to land owned by Hovey; thence through land of said Hovey to hands of the Trusler of the Banker Free School; thence through lands of the Trustees of the Banker Free School to land of Chadwick; thence through land of Chadwick to lands of the Trustees of the Banker Free School; thence through lands of the Trustees of the Banker Free School to land owned by Chadwick; thence through land owned by Chadwick to Washington Street at or near the corner of land owned by Doherty; thence across said corner to Washington Street thence through Washington Street on the North side to the Groveland Town line.

1901 The foregoing location to be eight feet wide except through private lands. Whenever the location shall encroach on the travelled hart of the street the said Company shall grade and put in suitable condition for travel a corresponding width on opposite sides of the above named streets, under the direction of the Selectmen, in any event to leave at least sixteen feet for travel unobstructed. All changes, repairs, alterations ou extensions of bridges and drains to be made at the expense of said Company under the direction of the Selectmen wherever in the judgment of the selectmen the public requires it, the said company shall rail the highway adjoining its location whenever it shall become necessary or whenever said Companyshall enter whon or cross private lands, the right to so enter whon or cross such land shall be secured by said Company at its expense and without any liability to the town; and in case any fence on wall or land adjoining the highway shall be removed, the Company shall at once relay or rebuild said wall or fende in a manner satisfactory to the S'electrhen.
All damage to abutters along the line of said location by wasoro of any change in the grade of the street or location of the sidewalk shall be adjusted in said Company to the satis- factions of the selectionen.
Drainage of surface water which may accumulate vz reasono of ing change of grade of Streets or isation of tracks to be subject to the approval of the Selectmen at the expense of said Company.

level the same under the direction of the highway Surveyor or Road Commissioner, and in case it is not so removed or levelled by said Company, von notice from the said Surveyor or Commissioner us the case may be, it is agreed that said officials may remove or level the snow at the expense of said Company.
In case the State Highway Commissioner shall decide to build a portion of highway within this location, the said Company shall at it's own expense, at once conform it's grandes and tracks to such change.
The said Company shall maintain in proper condition the street" between the rails to the width of eighteen inches on the outside of each rail.
In case said Company shall fail to keep the space between its rails and for eighteen inches on either side in good condition as ufore- said, the same shall be repaired by the " electmen or proper town Officials and the expense of mucho repairs shall be hard by said Company.
And in case there shall be any defect in any streets through which this location shall extend in consequence of said Company's failure to keep said space in repair asaforesand, the Company shall be responsible to said town therefor, and shall reimburse said town for all loss or damage sustained by it on account of said defect, subject, however, to the provisions of the laws of the Commonwealth.
The rails used under this grant und wow this location shall be T. rails not less than fifty six hounds to the zard, land conformity to surface of street.
The holes to be saved and painted except in such functions of the location as the Selectimer may determine, otherwise and in all portions to be satisfactory to the Selectmen.

All box cars used on this location shall be vestibuled.
So much of said location that lies in the middle of the road shall be constructed of such materials as is now used on said streets. Whenever said sheets or any portion
thereof shall be repaired or dig up for any purpose whatever to the extent of changing the grade thereof or not, the said Company shall take up und wlan it's tracks to conform to the new grade of said streets at its own expense subject to the approval of the Board of Selectmen.

Record of Precinct Two (2) Town of Boxford November fifth (5) nineteen hundred and one
Pursuant to the foregoing warrant the inhabitants of Precinct Swo (2) qualified to vole as the law directs, assembled at the time and place, and for the funpose therein expressed, At lew velock in the forenoon, the Warrant calling the meeting was read by the precinct clerk who then publicly opened the ballot box and the same having iren personally examined in the election officers and the public was found to be empty. The ballot box was immediately locked, the register indicating 000, and the key of the box was taken and retained by Timothy P. Cleary the Constable in attendance The bleck then called when the inhabitants of said Precinct qualified by law to vote in elections to give in their ballots for the purpose expressed in said warrant-
The ballot box remained locked while the volls were open. At two valock and thirty minutes in the afternoon the polls were closed, "he vallot box was found to register fifty three (53 )
