In compliance with the requirements of law we present herewith our annual written report in connection with the certificate in the printed report which you have."
We take treasure in thanking all of our companion in office for their hearty cooperation with us in our efforts to correction und thoroughly perform our duties, and white we have endedrived not is assume any rights or privileges not properly belonging to our office, We beg forgiveness for any seeming trouble or vexation of spirit we may have caused.
We especially thank the treasures and collector Mr. Warren M. Cole because it was owing largely to his cheerful cooperation and invaluable assistance in udopting in his department a more system- atic method of book keeping which insures better if not complete protections to the interests of the tax hayers so far as the duties of his office are concerned. Gour auditors were denied the right to make a thorough examination of the treasuher and Collectors books and documents for the year 1403 20 that the unditing for that year has never been completed, but we are pleased to say that the present treasures is keeping his books and accounts in accordance with the requirements of the law and we have made a thorough and complete examination of them, finding them well kept and correct.
This year , for the first time we think, your auditors have been able by a comparison of the tax bill conpons with the tax collectors cash book, to learn that theamount of tax collected from each taxpayer corresponded with
343
1 1906 the amount assessed or if any difference occurred your auditors were enabled to connect it.
you will notice that your collector has rendered a report independent of his report as treasurer which is a correct interpretation of one of his duties us collector.
As your auditors we have endeared to keep always in vier, the interests of the tax payers und those who have honored us with their votes, and entrusted to us the oversight of their financial interests: realizing that won the correct performance of our duties, depends very largely the system atic und correct performance of the financial duties of all of the in all of the departments.
We have done this even at the risk of having our motives misunderstood and imformed, assured that time will demonstrate that we have not labored in vain.
In conclusion, we would say that upon you as tax payers und voters largely depende the thoroughoperformance of their duties by the town officers. If you take the interest that you should and kindly render, them all the assistance in your power, and charitably but firmly insist that they uttend to their duties properly you will assure a thorough and complete findaction our of your interests
