To see if the town will appropriate five thousand dollars to enable the Water Commissioners to lay service pipes from the street mains to the line of the streets.
Voted, That the Water Commissioners be authorized to lay service pipes from the mains to the line of the street where application shall be made by persons desiring to be supplied with water.
Twelfth Article taken up :
To act upon the subject of locating anew and widening any highway in the town, and applying to the County Commissioners therefor.
The following motion was offered by George F. Homer ; viz., -
Voted, That the town hereby applies to the County Commissioners of Norfolk County to locate anew and widen Aspinwall avenue to a uniform width of fifty feet, and that the Selectmen be instructed to present and support said application in behalf of the town.
Pending which, on motion of Edward Atkinson, it was -
Voted, That the foregoing motion be referred to the Select- men, with instructions to investigate the whole matter, take the advice of counsel thereon, and report to the town at the next town meeting.

Voted, To refer the subject of the Seventh Article in the warrant, with the report thereon, to the Selectmen, with in- structions to ascertain in writing from the owners of the es- tates lying between the Brookline-avenue playground and Pearl street, at what price they will sell their estates to the town for the purpose of enlarging said playground, and report in print, at least seven days before the meeting at which it is to be acted upon, at what price and on what terms they can be purchased, and that a plan of said playground and estates accompany such report.

To either of the Constables of the Town of Brookline, GREETING :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the town of Brookline, qualified to vote in elections, to meet at the Town Hall in said town, on Tuesday, the third day of November next, it being the Tuesday next after the first

Monday in said month, at twelve of the clock, noon, at which time and place the polls will be opened, and kept open until thirty minutes past four of the clock in the afternoon, during which time they will be required to give in their votes to the Selectmen for the following national, State, and County offi- cers ; to wit, -
A Representative to Congress for the Eighth Congressional District, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Councillor for the Third Councillor District, Secretary of the Commonwealth, Treasurer and Receiver General, Auditor of Accounts, Attor- ney General, Senator for the First Norfolk Senatorial Dis- trict, Representative to the General Court for the Fifteenth Norfolk District, District Attorney for the Southeastern Dis- trict, Sheriff, three Commissioners of Insolvency, one County Commissioner for three years, two Special County Commis- sioners ; all to be voted for on one ticket.
Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant to the Selectmen, with your doings thereon, to the Selectmen, four days at least before the day of said meeting.
Given under our hands and seals at Brookline aforesaid, this nineteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

By virtue of the within precept, I have notified and warned the in- habitants of the town of Brookline, qualified to vote in elections, to meet at the time and place and for the purposes within specified, by leaving an attested copy of this warrant at their last and usual places of abode, or giving it to them in hand.

In pursuance of the foregoing warrant, the inhabitants of the town of Brookline, qualified to vote in elections, met at the

Town Hall in said town, on Tuesday, the third day of No- vember in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four, and were called to order at twelve of the clock, noon, by Thomas Parsons, Esq., chairman of the Board of Selectmen. The Town Clerk then read the warrant call- ing said meeting, and the return thereon of the constable who served the notice's.
The polls were then opened for the reception of votes, and were kept open until thirty minutes past four of the clock in the afternoon, when, after giving due notice thereof, and an opportunity to any legal voter present who had not voted, time to deposit his vote if he desired so to do, they were declared closed.
The Selectmen and Town Clerk then proceeded to sort and count the votes given in, and the whole number of votes so given in was seven hundred and eight, which were sorted, counted, and declaration thereof made in open town meeting as required by law, and were for the following persons and officers ; to wit, -
For Governor : Six hundred and ninety-one.
Thomas Talbot, of Billerica, had three hundred and thirty-four. William Gaston, of Boston, had three hundred and fifty-six. Israel W. Andrews had one.
For Lieutenant Governor : Seven hundred.
Horatio G. Knight, of Easthampton, had four hundred and thirteen. William L. Smith, of Springfield, had three hundred and eighty-seven.

Brookline Town Records.
Moses Williams, Jr., had four hundred and eleven, and was 'declared elected Representative from this town to the next General Court.
In voting, the check list was used, and no person was allowed to vote until his name was found on the list and checked.
The business of the meeting being completed, the returns were filled up, signed by the Selectmen, countersigned by the Town Clerk, and sealed up in open town meeting, as is required by law, and were delivered to the Town Clerk to forward to their several places of destination. The votes cast and the list of voters which was used at the meeting were also sealed up, endorsed by the Selectmen, and delivered into the custody of the Town Clerk, as is required by law.
The meeting was then declared dissolved by the chairman of the Selectmen.

To either of the Constables of the Town of Brookline, GREETING :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the town of Brookline, qualified to vote in elections, to meet at the Town Hall in said town, on Monday, the thirtieth day of November current, at three of the clock in the afternoon, for the following purposes ; to wit, -
First. To choose a Moderator.
Second. To hear and act upon the reports of town officers and com- mittees.
Third. To see if the town will grant an additional appropriation of two hundred dollars to the Committee on the Evening School, to estab- lish an additional session in the Heath-street district.
