FRANK.


LEVI FRANK, son of Francis Frank, said to have come from England, was born in Gray, Maine, in 1766. He married Charity Doughty, of Gray, and came to Norway in 1812. He lived for a time, on a place known as the Rust farm near Nathaniel Young's, but about the year 1815, he purchased a lot of Edward Little on the Lee Grant and built him a log house which was subsequently succeeded by a frame house. The farm has since had several owners, one of which was Joseph Churchill. Mr. Frank was killed by falling into a cellar when moving a house for John Parsons Jr., April 18, 1829. He had ten children, only two or three of the youngest born in Norway. Children: -

SAMUEL. FREEMAN, son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Bradford) Freeman, was born in Minot, Maine, August 11, 1814, and married, in Portland, Michigan, September 17, 1840, Miss Rebecca, daughter of Samuel and Ann Maria (Kellogg) Northam. She was born in Will- iamstown, Massachusetts, September 12, 1819. They lived in Michigan about nine years after marriage, then moved to Hebron, Maine, and finally, in June, 1854, to Norway, Maine. He is a carpenter. Children : -

II. Annie E., b. September 12, 1843; m., in Coaticook, Canada, Hollis Allen Jenne, of Derby Center, Vermont; had one child, Burton Jenne, b. in Stewartstown, New Hampshire, June 18, 1867; d. in Claremont, New Hampshire, February 23, 1875. He is a machinist, and lives in Claremont, New Hampshire.


III. Edward G., b. in Portland, Michigan, June 1, 1846; m., in Newport, Maine, August 3, 1871, Miss Millie Cooke, b. in Plymouth, Maine. He is a carpenter.

JOHN S. FRENCH, from New Hampshire, was living in Norway in 1825, and moved from here to Oxford. He married, April 5, 1802, Polly, daughter of Benjamin Libby, who form- erly lived on Frenchman's Bay, and with one Clark, built the first wharf on that Bay; was driven away by the English during the Revolutionary War, and escaped in an open boat in which he sailed three hundred miles; he died in Tuftonborough, New Hampshire, in 1805. II. Nathaniel Grant, b. March 12, 1861. He graduated from the Newton Theological Institution, and was ordained pastor of the Baptist Church in Harpswell; he is now a Maine State Baptist missionary. He married Fannie R., daughter of Albion Buck, of Norway, and has Arthur Ford, b. March 19, 1885.

FROST.


The name of Frost has been prominent in this town ever since its incorporation. Two, so far as we know, distinct families came here quite early, the one from Gorham, Maine, and the other from Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and their posterity has been and still is numerous.


JOEL FROST, born August 1, 1773, came to Norway from Tewksbury in 1796. He settled on the Waterford three tiers. His wife was Susannah Fowler, born June 20, 1800. Chil- dren : -

Four sons came to Norway, David Jr. moved to East Machias, Charles to Portland, and Nathan- iel lived in Gorham, Eunice, his daughter, married Samuel Andrews and settled in Norway, and Nancy married Zachariah Weston, also of Norway. Polly, another daughter, married Joseph Hamblin, of Gor- ham, and Jennie married a Mr. Webster, of that vicinity.

MORRILL. M. FULLER, carpenter, son of Benjamin G. Fuller, of Oxford, who was born in Oxford, May 5, 1808, and of Myra Cushman, his wife, who was born in Oxford, June 21, 1808, born in Andover, Me., August 24, 1842, married in Norway, December 25, 1870, Hattie E. Pike, who was born in Norway, September 2, 1845. He came to Norway, from Oxford, in the spring of 1865. Children : -

GALLISON.


JOSEPH GALLISON, born in 1777, was in Norway quite early, and carried on the business of a hatter. He was a charter member of Oxford Lodge of Masons, and much attached to the fraternity. His wife was Hannah Atwood. He spent his last years with his son in Wood" stock, and lived to be over ninety years of age. He came from Cumberland County to Nor- way. Children : -

WILLIAM W. GARY, son of Jeremiah and Roxanna (Andrews) Gary, of York, Me., was born in Lovell, February 6, 1820, and September II, 1842, married Nancy C. Farnham, of Hiram, Maine. He came from Lovell to Norway in 1865. He served in Company F, 23d Maine. Children : -

GIBSON.


SAMUEL GIBSON, son of Timothy Gibson, born in Henniker, New Hampshire, February 22, 1798, resided many years in Denmark, Maine. He was a member of the Legislature and sheriff of Oxford County. He married Rebecca, daughter of Joseph Howard, of Brownfield, who was born there May 1, 1793. Timothy Gibson is said to have come from Scotland and married Rebecca Gleason, of Billerica, Massachusetts. Joseph Howard was born in Woburn, Massachusetts, and married Margaret Whitman. Samuel Gibson moved from Denmark to Norway in 1851, subsequently moved to Bryants Pond, and after a few years returned to Norway and died here. Children : -


I. Izah B. P., b. Denmark, August 13, 1819; m., April 9, 1840, Rev. T. J. Tenney ; resides a widow in Stoughton, Massachusetts.


II. Rebecca G., b. November 23, 1821 ; m. Dr. Jesse Howe; d. October, 1884. .


III. Samuel F., b. April 9, 1823; m. Ist, Abb Pattee, of Bethel, 2d, Agnes M. Ayer, of Bethel ; he is an attorney-at-law in Bethel.
