Walter Crenshaw was the son of L. A. D. Crenshaw. a Greene county pioneer, a hardy man of . the. 70's He was an early day booster and. might have given present day town boomers pointers.on how to make a town. He did not have much to work on with the Springfield of the time. It was a dinky little settle- ment of frame buildings and D. C. Dade had a residence where the Metropolitan hotel now stands. It took a man of vision to see a hotel of the pretentions of the Metro- politan on that site but L. A. D.

LEBANON. M., Oct. 3-Thomas R. Jobnson, 64, prominent Laciede coun- ty outtle dealer. died at the home of his daughter, Mra. Boss Fletcher, here today. He was born and reared and spent the whole of his life in Laciede county.


.His death was due to infection of a cut on his leg which he sustained about three months ago. ' He spent several weeks in a Springfield hospital where he received treatment.


Ha owned and managed a farm on Cobb's creek, 15 miles southeast of Lebanon. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist church.


He is survived by his widow, a son, Eimer Johnson, of.Lebanon; and six daughters, Mrs. Charles Heard. of Oregon, Mrs. Frank Shadel, of Drew, Mo., Mrs. Esterett Webb, of Oakland, Mo., Mrs. Leonard O'Dell, of Oakland, Mo., Mrs. Boss Fletcher of Lebanon, and Miss Thelma John- son of the home address.
