Five In Charge
Five ministers who had been as- sociated with the Reverend Higgin- botham in religious work during past years: were in charge of the funeral rites. They are the Rev- erend Charles Tucker, the Reverend J. W. Gering, and the Reverend Arthur Roper. all of Bolivar, "and the Reverend William Z. Stovall and the Reverend N. Green Bristow of Springfield.

William Lower, a comrade of Hig- ginbotham when both served in Company A. Missouri cavalry. dur- ing the Civil war, attended the fu- neral. T. H. B. Dunnegan, an- other member of the same company. now president of the Polk County bank, was kent away by the severe weather. James Pitner. another Union veteran attended the rites.
The Reverend Higginbotham had been a farmer as well as a minister. For the past 12 years, since his wife died. he had lived at the home of a daughter.
He is survived by five children. one of whom, Gideon Higginbotham. Jr .. Is an evangelist in California. Other children are Mrs. Harve Holt. Mrs. Jack McReynolds. Mrs. Levi Moffitt of Polivar, and Will Hig- gInbotham, who lives In Kansas.

Funeral services for Mra. Carolyn P.
Ames, 66, who died Baturday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will F. Plum- mer, 711 Kast Lombard street, .will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the Herman H. Lohmeyer funeral home, the Reverend Q. Bryant Drake officiating. In- terment will be in Hazelwood cemetery. Mrs. Amas was born in Illinois, but bas lived in Springfield for 40 years. She was a member of the Congregational church bere. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Plummer, she is survived by thred daugh- ters, the Misses Carolyn, Kuzabeth and Pollyanna Plummer.

Charles C. Doty, 44. of 913 South Broad- way died in a hospital here at 12:30 o'clock yesterday morning following a brief ill- ness. He is survived by his wife; one son. Ralph Elltott; his father. M. W. Doty. 2327 North Weller avenue: three sisters. Miss Ola Doty of Springfield, Mrs. Clair George of Conway, Mo .. and Mrs. W. C. Gordon of Baticoy. Cal., end two brothers. V. H. Doty of Bradleyville. Mo., and George W. Doty of Springfield. Mr. Doty had been a postal clerk here for 16 years and was affiliated with the National as- soctation of Post Office Clerka. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon in the Starne mortuary. with the Reverend T. H. Wines officiating. In- terment will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
