Although she had been recovering from severe burns suffered about two weeks ago, Iris Webster. five- year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Webster of near Norwood, suc- | euinbed early yesterday in a hos-


pital here, to an Illness of diphtheria which developed after she was brought here for treatment.


Funeral services were held in the Herman H. Lohmeyer funeral home at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon with the Reverend H. A. Wood, pas- tor of the Campbell Avenue Metho- dist church, officiating. Burial was . in Hazelwood cemetery.


The child's clothing from the waist down waa burned away fhen It caught fire from some brush in a field where she was playing. The fatber beat out the flames but uot before the little girl was severely ! injured.

Purdy, died here yesterday. Her . death is the second fatality in con- pection with the accident. Her com- panion, Mrs. W. H. Tucker, died at the Ume of the accident.


Gene Stark, Monett, driver of the car and Herman Finn, Edna Knee and Flora Black who were riding with him are charged with man- slaughter and leaving the scene of an socident.
