Charles B. M'Afee- Dies of Pneumonia In Hospital Here
Charles B. McAfes, 60. prominent Springfield civil engineer and vet- eran of the Spanish-American war. died in a hospital here at 12:35 o'clock this morning following a brief ilincee of pneumonia.
He la survived by four brothers. Ernest O. McAfee and John R. Mo- Afee of Springfield, J. J. MeAfee of Joplin and fort McAfee of Fort Worth, Texas.
Mr. McAfee was a member of the old Company M. which was mus- tered into service here within about 20 hours after orders were received. The unit was commanded by his brother. Captain John R. McAfes.
Funeral arrangemente are incom- plete pending word from the brother in Fort Worth but services will be beid in the starne mortuary fol- lowed by interment in Maple - Park cemetery. .

Miss Julia Chinn Found on Floor of Small Apartment With Every Jet in Gas Cook - Stove Open
WITH every jet in a gas conk alove wide open, the body of Miss Julta C. Chinn, 52. was found on the floor of her small apartment at 933 Weat Walnut street just after & n'clock last night. Apparently she had been seated in a chair before a small table. and had slumped to the floor when overcome by the gas. She was fully dressed.

Ozarks Couple. Wed 66 Years
LEBANON, Mo., Oct. 21 .- Mr. And Mrs. D. A. Clairborn, pioneer red- dont To 'Pulaski county, celebrated their dirty-sixth wedding anniversary at their farm ' home near Orocker yesterday. Forty-one attended the celebration.
Among those present were their three sons, Ousley Olairborn and Dr. E. a. Olurborn, both of Deastur- ville, and W. I. Clelborn of Orocker: · daughter. Mrs. Ed Hamilton of near Crocker, and eleven grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
Mr. Claiborn, who is 90 years. of age, served in the Civil war on the side of the union, and lost an arm In. the battle of Vicksburg. He and hit'wife bare-lived-on the same farm for the last 65 years. He is a good stock farmer and is still active phy- alcally, as evidenced by the fact that he often goes .horseback . riding. Mrs. Claiborn, who is 83 years old, still does her own housework.
