Graves, of Meredith (sre Thompson Family), June 1, 1840 ; was a blacksmith in Meredith and New Hampton, having learned his trade of his brother [107]. He d., suddenly, at N. HI., May 1, 1853, ae. 38-1, while skilfully playing the bass-viol in the choir of the 1st Baptist Church, in the presence of his wife - a member of the choir - and two little sons ; at the first line of the third stanza " the bow dropped from his band, and, with a gasp or two, all appearance of life was gone." lle was never seen angry ; hoped in the Saviour at 17; was a member of the M. and N. I[. Free Will Baptist Church 15 years. Children :

The name has been oftener spelled " Buzzell " in Sanbornton (some- times " Boswell "), where four distinct families are found.
1. NOAH, early lived below the " Tin Corner" ; m. Patience Piper, dau of Stephen3 (see). His mother d. May 18, 1798. Children :
2. NATHANIEL, b. Jan. 12, 1794 (t. r.); was corporal in Capt. C. Per- kins's company, at Portsmonth, 1814; m. Polly (Molly) Wadleigh, dan. of Joseph, April, 1810 (Crockett) ; lived first in Boston, lastly at Hill Bridge. Their only child was : - 1. Thomas C. (Boswell), b. Jan. 16, 1819, In Boston, Mass. ; res'd. lastly in Hill, being joint owner of the saw mill just above the Bridge, aud there d., March 21, 1877, ae. 58-2. IIe in. Emeliue Wallis, dau. of George (see), Fcb. 18, 1840. and first lived in this town. Child : - I. Mary Dustin, b. Ang. 15, 1841, in S, near the old Prescott mill; m. Weston W. Ballon, and d Ang. 3, 1872, in her 31st year. Children, b. in Hill : - (1.) Frank Sylvester (Ballon), b. March 15, 1869. (2.) Harry Thomas, b. Ang. 5, 18:1. 3. HANNAN, m. Levi Chase (see). Another child of this family d. Aug. 25, 1800.
4. LYDIA may have been the aunt or older sister of [1], of whom we find this grotesque specimen among the ancient records: " Mrs. Lidy Bursiel, the old made, dyed Apr. 21, 1797"; and perhaps another sister, " the Bursiel made," d. Oct. 2G, 180G.

5. ELras is the earliest known head of another family ; m. - Wiggin, dan. of Stephen (se), and lived on the range east of the present Deacon Emery's, Site 1, Lot No. 65, 2d Div. Hle had two children :

He came to S. at the age of 22, and for 31 years was constantly employed in the dye-house of Jeremiah Tilton, in Northfield, though living chiefly this side of the river ; has since been a farmer on the Plains, whither he rem. his family, Oct., 1858, and a small house from the Ingalls stand. at the Square, which was burned, 1879. IIe m. Betsey Ranuels, dan. of Isaac, July 25, 1833 (Hardin), who d. Feb. 10, 1874, ae. 65-4. He furnished three sons and two sons-in-law for the late war of the Rebellion, as below. Children :

12. CHARLES WESLEY, b. March 6, 1837; enlisted in the New Hampshire 15th Regiment, 1862; was at New Orleans; m. Caroline E, dau of Isaiah Morrison (see), Jan. 2, 1866 (Runuels), and has since res'd. In New Hampton. Child : - 1. Nellie Etta, b. Dee. 1, 1867.
13. SARAII CARTER, b. Oct. 15, 1839; m. George Dawson, Feb. 25, 1858. He was b. April 18, 1836; was in the New Hampshire loth Regiment, Company H; Is now a railroad employe at Lathrop, Mo. Children : - 1. Mary Hannah (Dawson), b. Aug. 18, 1859. 2 Josephi Allen, b. Dec. 6, 1861. 3. Georgia, b. Sept. 3, 1865. 4. William, b. April 9, 1876, d. March, 1878, In his 2d year. 14. HENRY CLAY, b. Aug. 15, 1842; enlisted in the 12th New Hampshire, Company D, 1862; promoted to sergeant; wounded twice at the battle of Cold Harbor, June 3, 1864; d. of hemorrhage, in the hospital at Washington, D. C., June 20, 1864, In his 22d year.
15 JAMES MONROE, b. Sept. 14, 1844; served with the 26th Vermont Regi- ment till the end of the war; Is now an engineer, Vermont Central Railroad, living at Northfield, Vt. ; m , Ist, Arlette L. Briggs, June 3, 1870, who d. April, 1876; m., 2d, Marion Mitchel, 1878. Children : - 1. Jessie May, b. May 1, d. July 1, 1871, ae. 2 mos. 2. James Forrest, b. April 1, 1876.
16. EJIMA TILTON, b. July 13, 1847; m. Sylvester D. Hunt, April 9, 1865, who was b. Jan. 23, 1844; had been a soldier in the 15th New Hampshire, and has sinee worked for the railroad company in Tilton.
17. CLARA HUNKINS, b. May 10, 1849; m. Augustus Shaw, Dee 15, 1864, who is a farmer in Titou, on the Plains, near her father's. Children : - 1. Henry Ehner (Shaw), b. Sept. 12, 1865. 2. Frankie, b.
